Mi è piaciuto “Do you want loos or views?” We chose views and they were PHENOMENAL. But so were the loos!

The site was clean, stunning, peaceful and the staff were so sweet.

Mi è piaciuto As soon as we pulled in outside reception a gentleman came straight out to greet us and ask us where we wanted to stay. Stayed in Osprey for the views, it's on a slope so not ideal trying to get level in the dark but we managed. Next day in daylight we checked out the facilities.....wow! Shower and toilets are the best I have seen on any site, not only luxury but immaculate too. The whole site is beautifully maintained. We look forward to coming back soon. I can imagine it's glorious there in the summer months. It certainly didn't feel like your average campsite, well done all involved.

Mi è piaciuto Site itself is quite large but generally flat, very new and the facilities are fantastic,one thing in the shower block though the strange sinks? Hand washing only ,electric hook up having to download yet another app to get switched on? No big deal but is this the future? I shall certainly be going back

Mi è piaciuto We stayed in the non-electric field this weekend and loved it. There are no demarcated pitches, so you can set up wherever you fancy, and the views over Rutland Water are wonderful. The field slopes gently, but our levelling blocks got us level with no fuss.
The facilities block is pure luxury. I've never seen a campsite one so stunning. The showers are monsoon-style with plenty of hot water, everything was immaculately clean, and the décor wouldn't look out of place in a boutique hotel.
The location is great for getting out and about. Footpaths and cycleways around the lake are right on hand, and we walked into Oakham in about an hour and a half.
We also really loved the incredibly flexible check in and check out times. They allow non-electric pitches to stay until 6:00 p.m. on the day of checkout which makes booking a weekend away much better because you can make the most of Sunday in your new surroundings.

Non mi è piaciuto I believe the price of electricity was going to be an additional £10 a night and that has a maximum usage of 8 kilowatt hours. 8 kWh of electricity will cost approximately £2.11. That's the opposite of good value.
Another small drawback: we were told which way we had to face our van. With a pop top, that meant the wind was hitting the highest part of the roof, which isn't ideal in gusty conditions. It would be helpful if campers with pop tops could choose their orientation.

Mi è piaciuto The general area was very nice. There was a good view of and access to Rutland Water. Everything appeared clean and up to date. Staff were very friendly, helpful and amenable. All the customers we spoke with were very nice.

Non mi è piaciuto No hardstanding pitches available. The Metpow App was a bit of a faff. It didn't work at first (nor for our neighbours). I had to get a member of staff to adjust something on their computer to get it to work. Not a great deal of room in the showers to get dressed afterwards. Just a stool and two hooks to hang dry clothes and towel on. The only washbasins available were in the general open area. The chemical toilet emptying area was fairly unpleasant.

Mi è piaciuto Lovely drive onto the site, staff member came out to welcome us at barrier and explained where we was to park up. Looked a very clean and well kept site.
Parked up and had to download the met power app as we had an EHU grass pitch, sorted pretty quickly you get 8kw per day in with the price of the stay. The view was good, shower/toilet block only one onsite think there was 5/6 female toilets and around 4 showers (which were amazing), might have been more but that’s all we noticed, and assuming mens side was the same, please be aware the windows in the bathrooms are tinted but you can see straight through them both ways, you can’t see the showers but you can see the urinals through the men’s window.
Good walks down to the water, lots of wildlife and when we left we noticed a pub and cafe about a 5 minute walk.
We wasn’t told where the elsan point was so watched where people was going with the cassettes, it’s at the back of the shower block, you can’t drive to it so have to carry it over. We will definitely return

A tea/coffee room would be good in reception, it’s huge and there’s just a desk with 2 people sat there.

Mi è piaciuto Friendly service, accessible site and super well maintained facilities. A great site for our first Campervan pitch, highly recommended.

Non mi è piaciuto As new campers, it was generally a fab place. Only improvement to suggest is that we were a little confused where to pitch up when first arrived, and maybe a marked way to the sluice area on the way out.
