Purple Badger Camping and Fishing Lakes

Mi è piaciuto: Fantastic small campground. Almost feels like wild camping due to the layout & space between pitches. The coffee cart & pizza place on site are great additions. Really like it's potential as a small live music venue too. Friendly & helpful owners.

Mi è piaciuto: We had an unforgettable stay at Purple Badger Camping and Fishing Lakes with our young family! The campsite was a perfect little haven, surrounded by nature and so peaceful—it was just what we needed to unwind. The showers and toilets were spotless, which made everything so comfortable and easy. Helen and Mark were the most wonderful hosts—so friendly and welcoming! Our kids absolutely loved the Chicken Shed, filled with books and toys. It was such a thoughtful touch that made our days around the campsite extra special. They made new friends, toasted marshmallows, and enjoyed tucking into yummy wood-fired pizzas. The area around the campsite was fantastic for exploring. We enjoyed biking around Rutland, finding our way through the Wistow Maze, and simply rambling through the beautiful countryside. It was a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. We can’t wait to come back and create more happy memories!

Mi è piaciuto: Fantastic venue. Quiet, spacious and clean. Loved the fishing lakes (though didn't catch unfortunately!). Tried the stone baked pizza and it was delicious. Loved that we could have our own barbeque and that there was a firepit. The owner Mark was very friendly and helpful.

Non mi è piaciuto: Seems to be in the vicinity of a sewage treatment plant. And unfortunately could sometimes feta pungent smell which may have been coming from there. Having a BBQ and Fire also definitely helped mask this.

Mi è piaciuto: Tent very spacious , clean, lovely private area with fire pit, bench seating with umbrella. Very clean loos, lovely stroll around the fishing lake, coffee cart excellent for tea & toast.

Mi è piaciuto: Purple Badger is a hidden gem . Lovely level private tent pitch. Safe for children to play. Good coffee and hot food and very nice staff. We will be back

Mi è piaciuto: We stayed in the Val bell tent at Purple Badger for the first time having used used one of the standard camping pitches several times previously. Depite a booking glitch with Pitchup, Mark was as usual extemely helpful and the issue was resolved without a problem. Having camping throughout the UK with my kids since they were very young I can honestly say this is a fantastic site with no downsides at all, even when the weather is less than favourable. Each pitch is large, numbers on the site are limited, the facilities are excellent, including fridge/freezer, covered games area, coffee and snack cabin, wood fired pizzas available during the Summer period and nice showers / wash up area too. The fishing lakes are also great, and not too busy either. We are already looking forward to our next trip to Purple Badger, hopefully later in the Summer if we can squeeze it in.. :)

Mi è piaciuto: Great site - the site was half empty so we had a good amount of privacy and space. It's small but we liked this. The toilet facilities were the best Ive seen at any site and the washing up, fridge and seating areas were well thought out! Lighting around the facilites was brill. Firepit for every pitch and the no dogs policy was a clincher (the main reason we chose this site). We were thankful that despite the amount of surrounding water, we didn't encounter any problems with mosies or bugs (maybe time of year not sure?) No wifi or reception? loved it. We thank the friendly owners/management team for a very enjoyable stay.

Mi è piaciuto: Arrived early, to find ability to grab a coffee and bacon sarnies....made my day. The chaps let me put my tent up early as well. Very happy. Played I'm games room with my girls on the table football before campfire cooked dinner.
