Soak up the handsome Herefordshire countryside and ramble over the Malvern Hills at Ashminton Farm, a peaceful family campsite located five minutes' drive outside the small market town of Bromyard. Set over 56 acres of rural land, this quiet spot has scenic vistas over the local countryside and interesting features of its own, including a 10-acre flower farm, a five-acre lake and a watercress stream running through the grounds. The farm takes a back to basics, wild-style approach to camping, so pick your own pitch, settle down and start exploring. Take to the hills and scale the Bromyard Downs, amble along the banks of the river Frome or take a tour of Bromyard's town heritage trail along the old highway, passing half-timbered inns and independent shops and galleries along the way. Ashminton Farm is also five minutes' drive down the road from Brockhampton, a pretty National Trust property made up of a rare medieval manorial complex and well-maintained grounds. Imagining yourself in this idyll already? If so, the fact that barbecues, dogs, campfires and all that good stuff are allowed on site should come as welcome news. Local shops and pubs can be reached within two miles.

Other top days out like cider tasting in Hereford (30 minutes), browsing for second-hand books in Hay-on-Wye (an hour) and exploring the imposing fortifications of Ludlow Castle (35 minutes) are all potentially on the itinerary too – and if you've got kids to keep entertained, you can also head to visit the hundreds of animals housed at the West Midland Safari Park (40 minutes). On top of that, the northern tip of the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is about 10 minutes away by road, opening up a wide range of trails you can explore by bike, horse or on foot. For more peace and quiet, take a turn around the themed horticultural displays at Ralph Court Gardens (10 minutes), or drive slightly further afield to see the even grander house and gardens at Witley Court (30 minutes), a spectacular English Heritage property.

Non mi è piaciuto: The feild that was advertised as a pitch was completely overgrown, and where it wasn’t over grown it had been plowed, the surrounding feilds had recently had muck spread on them, it was also very difficult to find, and the path leading to the “pitch” was sunken and almost took the under tray off, ended up having to find somewhere else to stay very last minute and luckily got a place at birch wood camping which luckily wasn’t far away either

Dal gestore: This I wild camping on 56 acres organicly farmed land .10 acres of sunflowers to walk round. But sorry for there disappointment. 2 adults 8 teenagers only £25.cheapest any where.
