Penn Meadow Farm

Mi è piaciuto: Lovely fields in nice quiet location.
3 Fancy showers with not too much demand. + two portaloos (not sure if any others)
Staff onsite were very friendly on arrival and laid back about where to pitch our tent.
Plenty of space for everyone to spread out.
Nice rural walk to the Royal Standard pub down the road.
Communal kitchen shed with tea and coffee etc, Kettle and stove. With washing up area behind.
Glamping belltents for people who want pre erected options.
Can see wildlife like Red Kites
Farmers field next to us had Pigs and goats.

Would happily stay again.

Non mi è piaciuto: Could do with a few more water points.

We could only get cold water at the washing up sink but we solved that by boiling the kettle in the little communal kitchen.

Unfortunately a rather noisy family of football fans spoilt it by being selfish and loud throughout the night on the Saturday but this isn't the campsites fault.

Im so sorry to hear you had interruptions form another group, we do try really hard to keep the noise to an expectable level.

Mi è piaciuto: Very friendly and helpful hosts. The facilities were kept clean, plenty of room to pitch up. Very peaceful setting, with a lovely short walk to the local pub. Had a really nice stay :)

Non mi è piaciuto: Maybe could do with a few extra shower blocks for when it's busy.

We are looking into additional toilets and showers, it is just a little complicated with permissions as we are in an area of outstanding beauty.

Mi è piaciuto: Absolutely beautiful, very chilled, quirky. Good facilities. We had no issue with showers or toilets as they have added portaloos for when the combined toilet/shower cubicles are in use. The owners were super friendly and helpful and warned us there may be queues for the showers in the morning so we knew to go early. The little shared kitchen was a real unexpected bonus, having a kettle to speed up the coffee making process and a fridge/freezer was really helpful. We brought our own firewood with us but didn’t need to as they have a massive pile of stuff to burn that campers can help themselves to. The scenery is just gorgeous and I have never seen so many Red Kites in one place, they were amazing to watch. We didn’t want to leave and will definitely be returning.

Non mi è piaciuto: We were slightly confused where to go when we arrived but it was very quickly sorted by speaking to other campers already pitching. We saw a sign on a tree telling glampers where to go but not campers and we didn’t want to end up where we shouldn’t.

Not to do with campsite but just a note for fellow visitors - The Royal Standard does lovely food but does not cater for children at all.

We love the kites too! They are just incredible to watch! The positioning of the Farm is just ideal for so many reasons.

The Kitchen makes such a difference when you just need that coffee in the morning or a tea after your journey before pitching your tent. We are so glad you had good use of it.

I'm so sorry about the signage, we agree completely that we need more and are in the process of purchasing new signage after an unfortunate incident with a group using them as fire wood. We have tightened up our rules on groups for this reason.

We are good friends with The Royal Standard (we all eat there a little too often in all honesty) and we will pass on your feedback to them :)

Mi è piaciuto: Was attracted by animals, scenery and ability to have campfires. Lovely atmosphere, check in person was friendly. Lovely walks to be had, enjoyed a spot of geochaching in the area. They had a toaster in a communal area and some basic condiments for hot drinks. Ability to buy firewood/coal or forage in the woods.

Non mi è piaciuto: Not enough toilets. Showers and toilets would be good to be separate, most of the site was on the slope and distance to toilets was long, but saw toilets/showers be cleaned one of the days, soap missing mostly and sometimes out of toilet roll. Check in instructions were incorrect. Told to go to 3 wooden huts but it's actually a bus/hut on the side of the field. There is just one sink for washing up that seemed blocked for the time we were here with cold water. This seemed not enough with how many people were at the site.

Thank you so much, our team work very hard and really do enjoy their jobs and love creating a happy calm atmosphere for everyone to share.
We are indeed looking into additional toilets however being in a place of outstanding beauty there is a lot of red tape to ensure it is protected and any planning permission takes time. We do have the on site team cleaning throughout the day as well as two additional cleaners on Sundays, I cant comment on the timings of when you used the amenities but I can only apologise for your experience of these.
With the booking in, the instructions were correct at the time of your booking but due to the unprecedented high demand the check in moved out of the way to ensure there was adequate space for people to access the open kitchen and the free amenities. We do include in the instructions that you can just pitch up and we will come and say hello as an alternative. I apologise this was not clearer.

Mi è piaciuto: Great farm camping site. Lovely views, more than required amenities on site, cool toilet block sink taps, mirror makes one feel more than home. Tea coffee and washing up area with enough kitchen equipments. Lovely time. Definitely visiting again.

Non mi è piaciuto: Only because of bank holiday weekend site was almost full. Yet they managed everything fairly.

The farmer loves being creative with little touches like the skinks and the taps, you can even find him featuring on amazing spaces!

Mi è piaciuto: The pitches were large, and you could pick were you wanted .The toilets and showers were clean but could have done with a few more of them for the amount of people camping there. The views were out of this world could for miles, all in all I would recommend this site had a great time there.

Mi è piaciuto: Pitch anywhere. Friendly site campfires allowed. Dog friendly. Pizza van was great on Saturday night.
