A aimé Embers Knowlton campsite deserves top marks for its beautiful setting and facilities. It is an excellently maintained site with everything required and more- clean flushing toilets, hot showers, ice block freezer, coffee/snack bar and the preorder pizzas for the evening is a great touch.

N'a pas aimé The only reason I’ve not given a 5* review is because unfortunately our experience was ruined by the particularly unpleasant and rowdy group of people pitched next to us who spent both evenings of our stay talking at shouting volume and relentlessly swearing, with absolutely no consideration for anyone else on site. Whilst this is obviously not the campsite managements fault, I do think it should have been addressed more proactively rather than leaving other campers to be subjected to verbal abuse and aggression from the group after politely requesting that they lower their voices (at which point the manager thankfully did make an appearance). Pitches are allocated prior to arrival so when making our booking, in the special requests box I had specifically asked for a pitch in a quiet/less busy area if possible, so why we were put in close proximity to this group despite the site being near empty and the whole opposite side if the field being unoccupied I cannot understand. As long as you are lucky enough not to be pitched next to an awful group of people like we were, I’m sure you will have a great time.

A aimé We loved our pitch next to the lake. The site was beautiful and not crowded at all. Host Carol was fantastic. The main facilities (toilets, showers, kitchen) were brilliant and spotlessly clean.

N'a pas aimé I’m not keen on using a portaloo (located near the lake end of the site), but I found the five minute stroll back up to the main facilities not to be a problem at all.
