A warm welcome awaits and privacy is guaranteed at Bidas Vineyard Glamping, a peaceful and rural getaway set in scenic French countryside, in the grounds of a farmstead surrounded by nine hectares of vineyards, corn and meadows. Accommodation here is in an exclusive bell tent, sleeping four people comfortably in a double and two single beds. (The singles beds can be folded away during the day.) Guests have exclusive use of a covered outdoor kitchen, equipped with gas rings and a barbecue, along with a solid wooden dining table and chairs for scenic alfesco dining among the vines and surrounding cornfields: look out for the visiting deer who like to bound past from time to time. This is top stargazing land too, with excellent air quality and stunning clear night skies. By day, sun loungers are provided and there's lots of space surrounding the bell tent to play games and run around. Guests are also welcome to wander the nine hectares of vineyards and meadows surrounding the site. A small supermarket with a 24/7 petrol station, chemist, café, bar, florist, several banks, bakeries, butchers, pizzerias and restaurants are nearby in Pouillon. Bikes can be hired in town.

Attractions à proximité

If you do decide to leave your peaceful bolthole then there’s plenty to see and do nearby in Pouillon and Dax or you could nip over the border into Spain for tapas and homemade local cider. Pouillon is home to an outdoor heated pool, an animal/pony farm, a Friday night market stuffed with local produce where you can sample food from the stalls, and fishing and pedalo hire at the Lac de Luc as well as tennis and miniature golf around its waters. Dax a 15-minute drive away is renowned for its thermal spas and its hot water spring fountain in the town centre. It's also a busy market town with a daily indoor market which flows out into the streets on a Saturday and plenty of stalls with a wide range of fresh regional produce. The Brocante antique and flea market is held on the first Thursday of every month. Vineyard tours, tastings, archery, golf and horse riding are all nearby Maison Bidas, along with a Wednesday market at Peyrehorade. Within an hour's drive you can get to the surfing, stunning golf courses and fab beaches of Capbreton, Hossegor and Biarritz, or to the vast range of the Pyrenees mountains, for rambling or hiking in the summer months or skiing during the winter: several ski stations are within easy reach of Maison Bidas Head to Spain within an hour and a half to visit San Sebastián, renowned for its tapas, local cider and shopping, or Pamplona, home of the famed running of the bulls and tomato festivals.
