Rural break in Wales on the agenda? Book in at The River’s Edge and you’ll have a restaurant on site and easy access to hiking or biking in hilly countryside 10 minutes’ drive from Monmouthshire’s foodie hub of Abergavenny. This peaceful pop-up campsite is on the edge of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (formerly the Brecon Beacons), and 20 minutes’ walk from the scenic long-distance Offa’s Dyke Path as it passes through Pandy. Sitting right by the neatly mown pitches is the welcoming River’s Edge pub and restaurant, where you can scoff full Welsh breakfasts and lunch or dine on burgers and steaks on those days when cooking is off your agenda. You can call in for regular evening entertainment over the weekend too. Pet friendly and family run, The River’s Edge offers spacious camping fields partially shaded by trees, some with an electric hook-up, others without. Family-friendly amenities include a shower block, washing-up area and launderette, and there’s a supervised kids’ play area right next to the alfresco seating area behind the pub.

A aimé : We arrived on Friday, and we received a lovely welcome, the pitch for our campervan and awning was a great size with electric hook, toilets and shower facilities were clean. There's a pub on site, with a little park and is dog friendly.

N'a pas aimé: We booked 2 nights as was arriving straight from work and chose here as the advert stated there was a pub serving food on site with entertainment which is what we require, sadly this isn't true, after sorting ourselves out and putting up our awning - at 8pm we popped into the pub for food and was told that they weren't serving any, so feel we were totally misled as wouldn't have booked if we had known this, we left the next day and came home as after putting the awning up to take it down to drive for food then come back was not an option - totally defeated the object :(

Emplacement sur herbe sans électricité

A aimé : We stayed for a couple of nights in April 2024 where we finally had a dry and relatively sunny and warm weekend! We booked this location for its proximity to the Offa’s Dyke path and the on-site pub. Unfortunately we were a week too early as the pub had not yet opened but the owners kindly allowed us in for a preview of the interiors and offered a cup of tea. Paula, Damian and their son were lovely, chatting to us about the renovations and their plans for the pub and campsite. They are truly wonderful people and I look forward to visiting again when it’s all opened! The campsite is a decent size (I’d say maybe 30 pitches?) Mostly grass at the moment although I understand that they will be putting in a few more hard standing pitches in the future. A lot of the pitches have electric hook ups but we didn’t use this and there are 3 drinking water taps dotted around the site. The toilet block was clean, there were 3 showers, 3 toilet cubicles, 2 sinks and a urinal in the men’s room. Don’t know about the ladies but probably a similar number minus the urinal. There is also 2 sinks for the pot wash area but no other kitchen facilities such as fridge/freezer or kettle/toaster. This wasn’t a problem for us but something to consider if you’re looking for this. The water was hot and ran consistently so all good there, takes about half a minute to warm up but once it’s to temperature it remains hot. There is a waste water disposal outside of the toilet block (not sure if it’s for chemical waste) and there was also a black bin. Nothing by way of recycling at the moment. The campsite is very well lit at night and we had no problems navigating our way around at night. There’s also a children’s play area with swings and picnic benches. The field was dry under foot and no water pooling anywhere. It’s situated next to the river (as the name would suggest) which can be heard and even though it’s just off an A road, that road is barely used at night. We slept very well and didn’t notice any traffic noise. Looking forward to visiting this site again when it’s all fully up and running and looking forward to dining in the pub!

N'a pas aimé: Didn’t dislike anything.
