A aimé : The site is beautiful and the pub is lovely food is amazing

N'a pas aimé: We found staff rude as a group of 10 we phoned the pub in advance to book a table they asked us to pre order again this wasn't a problem for us we booked the table for 6 we arrived at the pub just before was shown to our table and ordered our drinks at the bar at 6.45pm we still hadn't been severed our food we understand that it is all cooked to order but that was the point of pre ordering my niece very politely asked if we could possible have the child's meal as he was becoming restless the waitress snapped at my niece that the "food was coming out "the same waitress then made hwr way to the bar where another family member was waiting for a drink and said to her co -worker " they come in as a big table and now they are DEMANDING the child's food " we were served a few minutes later and the food was amazing
On the Saturday morning the ladies toilets ( 3 of them ) were out of toilet roll my niece went to inform the owners to be meet with " well you all used it and my cleaner can't clean in the morning as it's too busy " again we understand this but we were just letting them know we found this very rude

A aimé : The hosts were very accommodating and friendly. We did a little concern because of the length of our rig, but they looked after us. The food in the adjoining pub was brilliant. This is under new management and the staff worked hard to help. Thank you

A aimé : Lovely little campsite. Pub looked nice when I went inside. Only went in once to get the information of where we are staying. Staff were nice to talk to when seeing them. 6 miles from Abergavenny so was easy to get to the supermarket or to have a walk around the town. 11:00 am check out.

Email and campsite rules don’t match up when it comes to having awning and children. On the booking site it said no awning, camp fire, BBQ and children. Got to the camp site and this was different part from the camp fire that was still not aloud. We left our awning in storage to give us some room then to find out we could have taken it with us it was a shame as we also like to sit under it in all weathers. Tree need cutting down to a safe level as when the wind got high it became very scary in case they fell down as they have become very tall. The children were not to loud and didn’t get in the way. Having a 11.30 pm cut of for any noise was a shame as some people were having a good time and then had to quite down or stop all together. Should be a late one for Friday and Saturday.Toilets are ok and do the job. Shower is again ok but the water gets hot and there no cold tap to cool the water. You also have to put everything on the floor in the shower cube as there was no where to put anything. Bathroom was always closed around 11:00 am this is the time where most people were leaving and had to wait or go on there travel without using the bathroom. The cleaning of the dishes etc was close to both bathrooms and the door was always open. It didn’t matter if you closed it as it would be opened again. It’s not very hygienic to be cleaning your dishes with the bathroom so close to the area. WiFi was given to us but kept on kicking us off it on anything i did or when it became busy.

Réponse du gestionnaire : Thank you for taking the time to review your time here with us, there is quite a lot to address in the comments but as your nightly said, we are new owners here and just being here a year has pointed the way to where we are constantly investing and aiming to improve. The shower block is dated, as is the system and we plan to refurb the whole area this winter, impossible to do when open as you can imagine. The Free wifi has been largely successful and actually, I think you may be the first to have an issue since its installation so apologies for that. The trees have been considered and actually, we have thinned out a large part of the area already, again, there are plans for further works in this area once we have closed this season, very difficult to do this type of work when in operation. I would like to address your comment regarding the park rule regarding the late noise levels, we have been here long enough to be part of some horrific late nights due to guests partying and playing loud music until the very small hours resulting in large numbers of complaints, I actually think you are the only guest we have ever had asking for more noise!! Our policy will not change on this due to the vast majority of our guests actually wanting to get some sleep at some point during tier stay. Again, we do appreciate your feedback and we will always try to address and control the controllable wherever possible. We will look into any disparity between the parks policies and those advertised elsewhere to ensure they become aligned as quickly as possible and we appreciate you bringing that to our attention. A aimé : Easy access off main road, level pitches, well maintained. Showers nice and hot. Food looks amazing in the on site pub. Nice large beer garden. This was our second visit this year.

N'a pas aimé: Not disliked but just for noting there is a train line just on the other side of the river but it isn’t too intrusive and didn’t bother us.

A aimé : First time we have been to Rivers Edge and what a lovely site it was, clean and tidy. Shower facilities were clean and the setting was beautiful and 16 amp was brilliant.

N'a pas aimé: Fire pits being allowed to smoke all day long was quite off putting, as that was all you could smell all day and making our clothes smell when sitting outside relaxing.

A aimé : This site has been greatly improved since our last visit a few years ago.
nice easy set up, lots of hardstanding pitches, good toilets and showers, also the added bonus of being next to a pub.
very friendly staff, and food looked good although we didn't eat. also it was great for the dogs, you can walk across a public footpath across some fields and come to the village, where the skirrid inn is situated, and a well stocked small garage/shop.

N'a pas aimé: Pitches were very very small it was raining so grass was water logged however I could not even walk around my caravan also very close to people either side all though it was a bank holiday weekend bins were over flowing the day we got there pub was nice but owners only interested in local punters not for me all the best .

Réponse du gestionnaire : Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us, albeit anonymously, we do struggle sometimes with the waste as with any small business I guess and we often do not expect some of our guests to leave their full tent, air fryer, inflatable porches, ground sheets and clothes maidens for example in our compound, as we found yesterday we have now changed our policies around what can and can't be dumped in our waste area. It is also a good time to remind you that's it is not just a bank holiday but also Easter, where the park has been very busy for a week, as you would expect.

All of our pitches are pretty much the same size, they are all 9 meters wide by 9 meters deep except a few, this is more than adequate for anywhere else and our research tells us that in fact, our pitches are bigger than quite a few operators but we understand your comments and also struggle to understand why some of our guests refuse to adhere to simple logic and use the space correctly and we will continue to change things, change permissions and change prices if needed until this becomes resolved. The issue today is the accessories market, our guests can now by porches that are bigger than their unit, awning that is bigger than their unit and for some reason, everyone has to have them! We don't currently charge for accessories like this but thanks to your feedback, we are now revising our pricing policy and limiting the size of any accessory, and we are now making it a park rule that anyone with a tourer, or trailer tent have to leave their vehicle in the car park.

We would love for you to email us or call directly to discuss your point about the locals being our only interest, we have worked tirelessly to support both our holiday guests and our local community and in the 12 months we have been operating, that has never been said at all so ideally, I wish you would have been brave enough to not do this anonymously so we discuss further your thought process behind your comments.

A aimé : We enjoyed our stay at the rivers edge despite being very wet. The owners have worked hard to modernise the pub, and work is still ongoing in the restaurant and on site. The toilets have not yet been updated and there are no clothes washing facilities on site.

The food in the restaurant was amazing and the pub provided a warm welcoming environment from the wet weather we had. Our waitress was amazing, but some staff weren’t so friendly.

We also enjoyed the walk along the river and visiting the nearby town with lots of shops and eateries. We would visit this site again due to locality.

N'a pas aimé: On arrival, we were a little disappointed as we had requested a particular pitch. Apparently, you can select your specific pitch on pitch up. Whereas I had rung and amended my booking directly, the owner said people who make requests on pitch up override those that are made directly.
It appeared that some groups (with very young children) had been split and were the other side of the site. Not sure why as there were pitches available.

We had a hardstanding pitch which was suitable for us, however some pictures are very small, and you are asked to leave your car in the car park.
