Redwood Rare Breeds Campsite

A aimé Loved the beautiful outlook, swimming lake, peaceful site. Hot showers were very welcome and the compost toilets were very well maintained. Loved the central fire pit so we could toast some marshmallows.
Breakfast was eggs from the farm shop and the girls helped to collect the eggs
Such a lovely camping trip with our young daughters.

A aimé pitched for 3 nights. very lovely owners and pets! the farm animals were very cute and you can feed them for only £1. good and clean amenities, washing up has no hot water but the showers do. there’s 4 showers, 2 toilets and a few sinks for washing. several drinking water refill points around the site. a nice woods on the right hand side, and a tire swing on the main camp near it. the farm shop and cafe were lovely too, good prices with essentials including very delicious marshmallows and locally sourced foods and art. very lovely views from the campsite as well as its high on a hill, good spot for stargazing and we were also lucky enough to have a night with some fog where the whole site was covered and it was pretty cool.

in terms of location it’s just outside of a little hamlet (walking distance) we didn’t visit but seems nice. within driving distance of frome and longleat. from frome you can go to several places via the train.

there was no wifi but both of us managed to get good signal from both the farm/shop site and the camp site

will definitely be coming back next year

N'a pas aimé the only issues we had were finding the site initially as the signposting isn’t too obvious unless the gate is closed. the only other issue we had was the amount of wasps but we understand that’s not a fault of the owners but do make sure to bring some repellent or something to deal with them if you’re planning on camping.

A aimé Found this place on a spontaneous trip. We booked very late around 7.30pm. We choose this place as we were able to arrive before 9pm which was later than most places. We were met by the owner as soon as we arrived. Fantastic service 👏 we had the feild to ourselves which was a great. The views were amazing. There is 3 small lakes on site. I was able to get mobile signal which is always a bouns. The weather wasn't great for me to go swimming but some others arrived whilst we were packing up and happily swam in the swimming lake. Small shop on site where you can buy essentials and even get a cup of tea/ coffee. The farm specialises in rare breeds and is a functional farm where you can see the animals. Lots of educational info available on the breeds. We met one of the volunteers who was more than happy to give us the history of the area. Overall we were very happy with our stay and will definitely go back.

N'a pas aimé If I had to choose one thing it would be no hot water in the washing up facilities. I hate the cold so instant hot water is a must for me but it wasn't to much of an issuse as the showers do have hot water so I just filled a bucket from there.

A aimé Idyllic, super peaceful little paradise that’s been created here. With almost 360 degree views, a few large ponds, a beautiful enchanted wood - it’s very relaxing.

Rare breeds a bonus we all enjoyed and the local pub did us a lovely lunch too.

Very chilled hosts with very light touch.

N'a pas aimé Compost loo’s slightly impact the comfort factor so be aware!

There was also a high level of wasp and hornet activity when we were there so that could impact your fun if you are not at one with nature!

A aimé Loved the location, large area of campsite with little pond, lots of lovely animals on site. Friendly staff upon entrance.

Wide open expanses with a beautiful views.
The lake and site was largely flat! Picking a site was easy

N'a pas aimé The toilets are the only thing I could critique but the site is new and they have some amazing sounding plans for the future of their site.

A aimé Gorgeous location, amazing views, beautiful place to wake up in the morning! I loved the compost loos, and the showers were great. I loved hearing the Canadian Geese, and all the other birds that live in the area. And I even saw a baby deer in the woods, a beautiful, joyful moment (for me, the deer looked spooked!)

N'a pas aimé The farm road to drive to the campsite was very uneven and with lots of dips, my car didn't like it
