Here, you might want to start close to the site and work your way outwards. Wimborne Minster (five minutes' drive) is a local historical highlight, but Kingston Lacy (15 minutes) just slightly further out is especially grand. Here, take a tour around the house styled on a Venetian palace or take a walk in the park grounds. There’s big potential for daring endeavours in Moors Valley Country Park (15 minutes), especially when it comes to the high ropes Go Ape course, cycling trails and walks with a hawk. It’s the same sort of situation in The New Forest (20 minutes), where walks among New Forest ponies, canoeing down the river and archery are some outdoorsy options. Next up are beaches, which are likely to be important, of course: buzzy Bournemouth (20 minutes) and watersports-central Sandbanks beach (25 minutes) are the big options. Christchurch (30 minutes) provides more coastline, but it joins Corfe Castle (30 minutes) as a great historical location. There are two castles in Christchurch, and Corfe Castle is certainly a spectacular hilltop ruin.
