Girt Down Farm

A aimé Perfect View, great facilities (clean toilets, warm shower, fridge, freezer, washing up area). Very helpful and friendly staff. Would happily come back. A good amount of space for the number or people pitching up. Peaceful and can park car/van next to tent.

A aimé The view was absolutely gorgeous! We loved the walk to the Hangman hills, which was very do-able from the site. Was close n easy to get to Combe Martin, Ilfracombe, etc, but felt quiet and peaceful. Just the sound of sheep on the hills, skylarks and kids playing! Facilities were clean n well tended, great to have a fridge/freezer to use. Friendly owners.

N'a pas aimé The site is very exposed in really windy weather - nothing blocking the beautiful view also meant nothing blocking the wind! So perhaps consider taking sturdy windbreaks if strong winds are forecast! All adds to the adventure!

A aimé The view is absolutely amazing. The best facilities I have seen as well. Shower, toilets and washing up area - spot on.

N'a pas aimé The pitch is a bit hilly and to get to the farm there is quite a hill to climb as well. Worth though for that view.

A aimé Great views. Facilities very simple but had everything you needed. Not the best place to camp in bad weather!

A aimé Really pleasant stay, extremely clean facilities and a warm welcome from the hosts. Great location and the dog had the time of his life!

A aimé Beautiful views, homemade pizza was a lovely touch, nice and quite- not over crowded, could choose where to pitch up, local shops and pubs near by, surrounded by nature.

N'a pas aimé Was quite windy due to being high up. One night the hot water wasn’t working so had a cold shower, was quite a walk up hill on the way back from the showers.

Fortunately we were able to sort the showers as soon as we heard there was a problem.

A aimé Fantastic views- the best in the area I’m sure- and so convenient for the South Coast path.
Close enough to Combe Martin to walk down in to town, although the walk back up is a killer.

Saturday night “Pizza Night” absolutely worth it- some of the best pizza you could wish for, and delivered to your tent.
Wonderful staff, immaculate cleanliness in shower/toilet block (and an adequate portaloo in the top of the field) as well as a small enclosed communal area for drying out/ fridge facilities.

N'a pas aimé So glad we chose Girt Farm rather than other nearby alternatives, although it is a very exposed site with a Westerly breeze.
If it was going to be bad weather we would choose a more secluded site.

Not easy to find a flat area, and when busy could probably benefit from another shower block.
Would be nice if the washing up area had a roof.
