Location and friendly staff

Facilities were not good. There were three toilets and two were out of use for two days. The chemical toilet was not a toilet you would want to use.
There were far too many people and tents for the amount of toilets and showers.
The shower temperature was either freezing cold or so hot it was dangerous.

Nice quiet campsite with pitches along the sides leaving a big open space in the middle where all the kids got together to play games.
We were pitched along the treeline which was great for shade during the day.
Sharing the campsite with sheep, guinea pigs, hens (less keen on the noisy cockerel). The kids really enjoyed buying small bags of pellets and handfeeding the sheep.
Toilets were fine and the showers were hot. The showers worked best when no-one else was using water at the time.
The washing up facility was two sinks with trestle tables at each side which were helpful for putting your things. There was hot and cold water and dish soap, etc provided. It would be great to have some cover in case you need to wash up in the rain.
You can rent a firepit (recycled washing machine drum) and can buy wood and kindling on site.

Two of the toilets were out of order during our stay, leaving only one toilet for the whole campsite. There was also a compost toilet in the carpark, but people didn't seem to use it.
The washing up facility was immediately in front of the chemical toilet disposal point, which meant the constant smell of sewage whilst doing your washing up.
Wake-up calls at 05:30 from the cockerel.

Not being able to choose our own pitch. We were told our pitch number in the morning of our stay but when we arrived there were no pitch numbers on the posts; only people's names from the previous week.

Lovely basic campsite a short 15 min drive away from Whitstable. All pitches were a short walk from the facilities and love a campsite at night when it's pitch black except the glow of firepits from everyone's pitches.

Pitches not huge (the smallest we've stayed on) but good to have option to park the car elsewhere if needed
Didn't see any staff the entire time... I don't expect to be waited on (it is a campsite after all) but seemed bizarre we didn't even get checked on to ensure we had a booking etc?

Unfortunately we did not enjoy our stay at Brook farm for many reasons. Upon arrival there was no-one there to greet us and no information provided. The reception on site is poor so I was lucky to find some to get hold of the woman who was out but was friendly and directed us to our pitch. The pitches are in close proximity to each other which we didn’t like. The site was poorly managed as it was a very loud site. Families playing football near our campfire and children running through everyone’s pitches. There was no managerial presence to keep things calm as you would hope for with a camping trip.
The facilities were very poor. Only 1 toilet working with a full campsite over the weekend and the sinks we not working for most of the first day.
All in all we won’t be returning to this site. It just wasn’t for us.

The surroundings

Only 1 sink working for hand washing, teeth brushing etc. No one checked whether we were OK, happy, needed anything.

A really sweet little campsite with loads of potential, with a decent flat pitch, set in beautiful surroundings next to woodlands. We shared the space with a small amount of animals, mainly chickens (roosters included), sheep and guinea pigs. It was a good base for local days out in Canterbury, Whitstable etc. Plenty of supermarkets nearby too.

The fire pits were great.... Made from recycled washing machine drums.

The showers need some serious attention, there are only three showers and the water was either ice cold or scalding hot. Mostly freezing tho. In addition, the water pressure is too low, and even when you get some heat from the shower, if a chain is flushed or tap turned on, the pressure in the shower changes and temperature goes back to icy cold. The switches on the shower unit are all the wrong way round. I.e. if you want hot water, you need to switch cold on.

The showers as well as the three toilets are unisex, which wasn't ideal, as there is no additional space to get changed or gather your things

Both the showers and toilets are in a converted outhouse type building with concrete floors and a barn style door, toilets are accessed via a step up, so anyone with mobility issues might struggle.

We were asked to bring our own toilet roll, which I thought was a little unnecessary..... I would have assumed that a pitch including toilets would include the loo roll!

Further sanitation issues were the chemical disposal which was a porcelain toilet immediately behind the washing up area and where the drinking water was accessed.

There are only 2 washing up sinks, and there is no bin provided for bits of rubbish when washing up. There is also no drainer or table to put things on.

All sinks and handwash basins were regularly getting blocked.

The chicken coop was right behind the tents, possibly less than 20metres which included a few very noisy cockerels which liked to say hello to everyone at 5am in the morning.

The site has Arbys cafe which we were told sold pizzas on a weekend night but we never saw it open once.

Before checking in, we were sent a LONG list of rules for the site, part of which asked us to say when we would arrive. I presumed that by providing this information, we would be greeted and shown the ropes and where our pitch was. However, when we arrived, the gate was closed and no one was around so we had to sort ourselves out and hope that we had chosen the right pitch.

Within the rules was also a lot of confusing information about who you can and can't contact at certain times.

also in the list of rules, it stated that the fire pit cost was £15 per night including one bag of logs, and further charges for extra logs.

Our first night was particularly cold and a fire would have been brilliant, however, we thought it was an extortionate amount to pay per night so didn't have one. If we had seen any staff on arrival, we would have known that it was £15 for the duration of our stay.

I can't comment on the friendliness or helpfulness of staff as I only saw Robyn a couple of times when sorting the animals out and driving up the field to ask about firewood and sticking names on posts.

Towards the end of our stay, there were some noisy large groups playing music into the night, but there was no one around to speak to about it, and due to the confusion about who could or couldn't be contacted, I wasn't able to highlight the issue.

We were in an electric grass tent pitch, and found that we arrived back at camp after a day out, we would completely lose the sun because of the trees of blean woods. Perhaps the tents could be placed in a sunny spot and the animals in the shade? Or the tents and motorhome pitches swapped over..... Motor homes and campers are slightly better insulated than tents.

There is no lighting at all apart from the automatic lights when you go to the loo, which has got potential to be dangerous if people are walking around next to hot firepits that have been left out at bedtime.

There is very little phone signal in the area, I use Three and was ok, but many others struggled.

Finally, as the site backs on to the woods, there are A LOT of midges and we were eaten alive

The locvation is great and the site is very peacefull

We along with 2 other families rented the " Glamping Bell Tents " This is not Glamping in anyway shape or form, the Bell tent is tiny, With the " small " double bed and sofa bed there was barely enough room to move in the tent, to say they are small is an understatement, The tents were full of mildew and damp. We have been to many glamping sites and this one is by far the poorest we have seen. Fortunatley the weather was good, as you would not want to spend any time at all in the tents.
They are very poor value for moiney when you see what you can get at other sites.

Great location, near woodland so great for walking our dog! Flat and well marked pitches. The facilities were clean but basic unfortunately the toilets were blocked for a while but there was an eco loo to use and it was sorted the next day.
