In the Kent countryside between Faversham and Canterbury is Mount Ephraim Glamping Pods, where luxury pods are tucked away around the grounds of a splendid country estate.
Mount Ephraim Country House & Gardens is probably best known for its fabulous 10-acre Edwardian gardens, which include a lake, rose gardens, an arboretum and a grass maze. They're open to the public from April to September, but if you choose to stay overnight you’ll have access to them outside of normal opening times – what a treat to be able to explore without anyone else around…
There’s a real rural atmosphere here, with farmland views, a peaceful vibe and lots of great walks or bike rides directly from the site. It’s easy to get to, though, being only a little way from both the M2 and A2, and about an hour’s drive from London.
The smart glamping pods are fully in keeping with their grand location, and each one is self contained with all the kit you should need for a comfortable stay. Each pod has a double bed, a sofa bed, a kitchenette (with fridge, kettle and toaster) and an ensuite bathroom with a hot shower and flushing toilet.
Towels and bed linen are provided to help keep your packing list light, and there’s heating to make sure you’ll stay cosy inside the pod. Outside, the deck area is a highlight for many guests – it’s got a hammock and a firepit to help you make the most of your alfresco time.

Attractions à proximité
You’ll be in a good spot for Kentish explorations here, perhaps taking yourselves off to poke about at the indie shops and visit the Shepherd Neame brewery in Faversham (10 minutes’ drive) or visit the cathedral, city walls and Roman Museum in Canterbury (15 minutes).
The Kent coastline is a huge draw too, and from Mount Ephraim it’s easy to get to seafood hub Whitstable (15 minutes), arty Margate (half an hour) or the sandy beach at Broadstairs (35 minutes). Those of you who’ve brought the kids along on your break might also like to include animal attractions at Howletts Wild Animal Park (20 minutes) or Wingham Wildlife Park (25 minutes) too.
Outings don’t have to take you very far, however – you could equally amuse yourselves with a walk or bike ride in the immediate surroundings, perhaps exploring the Blean Woods National Nature Reserve and/or stopping for a drink at one of the two pubs within walking distance.
