Just as its name suggests, The Humber Hideaway is a peaceful bolthole tucked away in East Yorkshire countryside near the River Humber, just five minutes’ drive from Kilnsea Beach and the landmark Spurn Point. The site has extra-large and well-spaced grass pitches with electric hook-ups with amenities just a few steps away housing clean, modern loos and showers, plus a covered washing-up area with a Belfast sink. While on site, you’ll see ships and ferries wending their way out to sea down the Humber Estuary, while the local wildlife goes about its business around you – bring binoculars with you to (hopefully) spot curlews (best in late spring), roe deer and foxes in the fields and hedgerows, and occasional seals along the river banks. The flat terrain of East Yorkshire lends itself to easy cycling and hiking; routes start straight from the site entrance and follow the banks of the Humber or head north through a string of historic villages. On clear days, you will be rewarded by some of the most colourful sunsets you’re likely to see in the UK. In need of a drink or bite to eat at the end of a fun-filled day’s adventuring? There are pubs five minutes’ drive away in both Easington and Kilnsea, as well as other good places to eat within 20 minutes by car.

Les propriétaires aimables et serviables, des installations impeccables (douches électriques excellentes), et des emplacements spacieux sont très appréciés. Parfait pour la campagne, la faune, les oiseaux et les balades vers l'estuaire Humber et Spurn Point. Tranquillité assurée, et nombreux souhaitent revenir. A aimé Quiet and very clean site out of the way, showers and toilets excellent
And welcome message from the owner was a nice touch

N'a pas aimé It Didn’t affect our trip as we were lucky with the weather but I can imagine the site is pretty difficult at times in the rain due to the sloping site.
Only two toilets in total so could be difficult when busy but they are very well kept

A aimé First time camping at the Humber Hideaway and found it a really nice site. Excellent hosts - spoke to Andy via phone on arrival and he provided all the information we needed to access the site and get setup. The facilities were excellent - very clean showers/toilets etc and we had everything we needed.

A aimé Absolutely loved our few nights here. It was such a peaceful site! The toilets and showers were always clean and the showers were hot and easy to use (and not the push ones like at swimming pools!) Close to the coastline which the kids and dog loved! Also a short bike ride/drive or 20min walk and we visited The Granby Pub for tea and there was a playground round the corner that entertained my 3 kids for a while 👍
The site its self is basically a field but its actually what I loved. No frills or faff and just the birds to watch was all we needed! There was even a pair nesting in the facility area which lovely to see and kids were fascinated! Pitches are super flat (as is most of the surrounding area) so great for us as we have a few mobility issues so this was perfect! Pitches were also well marked out and spacious. The site is also locked so felt secure and safe- we were the only ones one night and still felt fine. Also the stars you can see as so little light pollution around was stunning!! The guy who you ring for the code and who comes to see if all OK etc was really friendly and helpful telling us directions for the walks etc.

Overall a lovely, peaceful site and we will definitely visit again!

A aimé Clean facilities, very quiet location which we enjoyed. Amazing views throughout. Close to 2 pubs and beach. With only 4 pitches, which was very nice and it wasn’t busy. The owner/camp manager was very welcoming and friendly. Good communication.

A aimé Lovely quiet location with large pitches. Toilets and showers were spotlessly clean but you do need a torch to visit them when it's dark. We didn't get to meet the owner but he was very helpful when we rang him for directions.

Attractions à proximité

The quiet beaches at Easington and Kilnsea (both five minutes’ drive) are spot-on for long rambles along the shoreline or beach combing and shell collecting. East Yorkshire’s answer to Land’s End, Spurn Point is a national nature reserve (10 minutes) popular with birdwatchers, and you can also take trips to the top of the lighthouse for spectacular North Sea views. A visit to the Discovery Centre (also 10 minutes) will give you the lowdown on the local seal and puffin colonies. For a traditional day out by the sea, the coastal resorts of Withernsea (20 minutes) and Hornsea (50 minutes) both have sandy beaches, busy proms and plenty of amusements for all the family, as well as fish and chips shops for rounding off your seaside experience. The historic city of Hull (45 minutes) turns up award-winning aquariums at The Deep and interactive dinosaur-related displays at Dinostar, plus vintage buses and penny-farthings at the Streetlife Museum of Transport in the beguiling cobbled streets of the historic Old Town.
