Preston Campsite

A aimé Large field with plenty of space and level pitches, peaceful area and beautiful clean river. The owner was very friendly, he would come over everyday to say hello and ask if everything is fine.

N'a pas aimé We were there for one weekend so we didn’t mind it, but the lack of showers for tent campers can be an issue for some.

A aimé Right next to the river Wye. Perfect for paddleboarding. It is a very basic campsite with access to only a few toilets but the great location is what made it for us! Will visit again

A aimé Gorgeous position on the river, swimming from the site. Portaloos basic but clean and tidy. Level pitches, plenty of space, nice and quiet in the evening- no traffic noise. Good pub less than half hour walk

N'a pas aimé The owner is a vile man. The toilet block and showers are NOT available unless (as stated by the owner) you have paid £400 for a glamping tent even though it states on pitchup that they are allowed access. There are no signs at all so you will not know this unless you go to the toilet and bump into the owner where he will shout at you and tell you to get out of the field. Very upsetting experience

A aimé I wanted to be quite selfish and not share this place to be honest, hehe.
THE most serene, beautiful place, by the river, all your worries do just melt away!

Run effectively & efficiently by Phil, the legend!

Phil deserves total recognition for his incredible work, one of the most genuine, kind men we have ever met, nothing is too much bother! Made us feel like family! He is fabulous with the children. Always makes time for his guests.

The site is just perfect, fantastic size, the Bell Tents,are well spaced, fully stocked, comfortable beds!,and well lit ascetically the facilities are very clean, and again very efficiently maintained, great showers, and great to have proper loo’s.

So.. we Glamped not Camped, they are 2 different things, with 2 very different costings! As anyone would know on booking, experienced or not.
The above mentioned facilities are on the Glamping site, well signposted on entrance (church side) and gated at the bottom ( river side)

Camping looks beautiful here too, right by the river perfect for fishing, boarding, canoeing, wild swimming, we spent many hours down the river, just adjacent in a large field are more spaces, facilities including clean porta Loo’s & A large sink site.
We met some really great people on the Campground (Hi Brian and Barbara)!
Aswell as the Glampsite, we struck very lucky with all our neighbours over the week,
Also struck very lucky with the glorious weather.

Surroundings- so just about a mile up from site is a pub called the Yew Tree, Exceptionally Good Food! Wonderful staff and drinks on tap. It’s a must.

Would recommend a trip to Gwatkins cider farm, and eat at the Red Cow restaurant on there, fabulous Sunday lunch!

There are many villages to visit, as avid readers our fave was Hay on Wye,
Supermarket if needed is about 15-20 mins drive, but we preferred
The “Harrods of Herefordshire” Oakchurch, approx 10 mins drive if that.

All in all… the most relaxing, fun, week.
Loved every second, infact we extended our stay, which we’d never done before.

Book it!
We are returning next May & August, looking forward to seeing any new progress made to the sites, exciting times!

A aimé Natural setting, river to paddle/fish in, friendly welcome, good price, lovely view of orchards, clean portaloos

A aimé Enjoyed it last year, so decided to go back. Very quiet despite being school holidays. Riverside pitch. Swam in the river. Watched kingfishers.

A aimé The owner was very kind and friendly - on arrival I was not very well and he even offered to put our tent up for us! The location seems to be excellent, however I can't comment further as we decided not to stay due to being unwell.

N'a pas aimé Nothing wrong with the site as far as I can tell, however PitchUp has an error in their listing. It says the site has showers available but doesn't mention that they are only for glamping. Had we stayed, this would have been a disappointment as it was one of the reasons we chose the site rather than others in the area. I don't think it's an error on the campsite's part - I think PitchUp needs to be clearer in how they display site-facilities!

A aimé Beautiful site with access to river Wye. Orchards on two side. A hare was running across the field when we arrived. A lovely little village to walk through with dog. Basic with just poratble loos and washing up sink but suits us fine. Friendly owner. Been before and will be going again.
