No one would blame you if you decided to spend much of your holiday hanging out on the beach by the site, but there are plenty more options around if you fancy a change of seaside scenery. You could walk 20 minutes to Praia do Con, drive for 15 minutes to Praia de A Xunqueira or drive to the far end of the peninsula for the Faro de Cabo and stunning sands of Praia de Barra. Across the other side of the estuary, the city of Vigo (25 minutes’ drive) is a good place to visit, for a stroll around the Old Town, a climb of O Castro mountain and some arty time at the Museum of Contemporary Art. It’s also the boarding point for boat trips to the gorgeous Islas Cíes, laced with hiking trails and fringed with more fabulous beaches. Hiking is an option closer to home as well – perhaps on the Rio Da Fraga trail (15 minutes’ drive) or climbing up to Mirador del Monte Faro (Domaio) (25 minutes). For more thrills, there are outdoor centres close by organising canyoning and coasteering adventures.
