Set on the gorgeous Pembrokeshire coastline, Eco Caerhys Camping has sea views from many of its hilltop pitches – and here’s a heads-up, all you sporty types – Abereiddy's surfing and coasteering beach is within a five-minute drive, as is the long-distance Pembrokeshire Coast Path, which will reward hikers with spectacular clifftop views. You’re even set for a jaunt over to Ireland for the day, with a daily ferry service running from Goodwick (20 minutes' drive) – and if you’re just passing through, the site makes for a handy and relaxing stopover the night before you catch the boat. When you arrive on site, grab any of the free pitches – they are clearly marked in the field. Simple facilities include outdoor toilets, private showers in wooden cubicles and washing-up amenities. You can park by the pitch, so you don’t have to worry about car security or lugging your camping gear around. If you want to eat at base camp, bring a barbecue with you; otherwise you have plenty of options for dining out. Porthgain (10 minutes) and Solva (15 minutes) have several harbourfront inns and bistros, and you might even find a pub with live music in the evening – you can stock up on supplies there too.

Attractions à proximité

Doubtless the kids will want to head for a sandy beach – so give in gracefully and head for Whitesands Bay (15 minutes’ drive), a popular spot for swimming and body surfing. For a more unusual swimming spot, how about the Blue Lagoon (five minutes), a flooded slate quarry with a tiny pebble beach – and also a cool coasteering destination? There are inland kids’ attractions aplenty too, from the zoo and nature trails at Dr Beynon’s Bug Farm (15 minutes) to the rollercoasters and Ferris wheel at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (50 minutes). If they’re still demanding more action, try them out on the thrill rides at Oakwood Theme Park (45 minutes) – where there’s a 3D cinema to cover you on rainy days. If you’re after more relaxing pastimes, St Davids (15 minutes) is the smallest city in Wales, and proud owner of a stately, 12th-century cathedral to potter around. Right across the Alun river is the dramatic ruin of the Bishop’s Palace. If history’s not your thing, you can rally your spirits in the city's pubs, cafés and cute little tea shops.

A aimé : Lovely campsite, clean toilets and showers which were basic but hot! Close to beach and food van on site for breakfast, coffees and burgers with veggie options. Friendly couple running site, logs and fires available.

A aimé : The simplicity of the set up camping in a field right next to the coast path and 10 mins walk from the beach & swimming. The hosts and their friendliness and humour The nicely spaced out large pitches. The use of a fire pit and the ability to purchase wood ( delivered to your pitch) The mini cafe/breakfast bar

A aimé : We returned to the site for a 3rd year. Had another fantastic few days with some sunny and windy days! Great for coastal walks and also some amazing local beaches. Cas, Leanee and Tily made the stay as easy as possible as ever ! We love the fact that there is limited signal for devices.

A aimé : 5+++ stars for the camping and owners. We loved our stay . Facilities were nice and clean ,site with sea view ☺️ breakfast was delicious 🤤🤤🤤

N'a pas aimé: Not dislike -maybe recommendation - a small freezer will be great to have on site with free access. Wont disturbed the owners with the ice packs .

A aimé : Everything! Lianne and Caz are amazing campsite hosts. Friendly, discreet, and they cook up a great breakfast in a little van on site. The showers are super, the campsite small and cosy and the view incredible. We’ll be back.

A aimé : Hosts were so welcoming and flexible! The camp was clean and had everything you needed. Views were spectacular. Morning sausage and egg bap was delicious. 15 min walk from the blue lagoon was special as it meant we could get there super early. Not good signal but that was nice to digital detox!

N'a pas aimé: The snoring couple next to us who ruined the beautiful experience 😅
