Barhams Woodland Camping

A aimé : Lovely setting in the middle of the woods. Every pitch is separated and feels very private and the fire pits at every pitch are a great treat. The facilities are very clean and work well for the size of the camp.

A aimé : The location and the surroundings, it was very clean and tidy with everything we needed, to get away from the rat race of life and go back to a more peaceful time! To just sit, listen and relax in a beautiful woodland which has been mindfully managed to cater for everyone’s needs! Superb place it really is a little Jem.

A aimé : We love Barhams wood forest camping. Perfect in a word! Close to nature. Each pitch has its own area with a firepit. The site is well laid out. The showers toilets and pot wash stations are rustic yet well designed, clean and a host of little extra touches ie Stocked with lovely toiletries even books in the toilet! Host of thoughtful extras barrows to transport your camping gear from car to pitch, seating dotted around to sit and enjoy the woodland, undercover area if it rains to carry on having fun outdoors. I'm sure there is more we didn't discover. Worth visiting we will be back!

A aimé : Pitch was lovely and secluded with no noise other than that of the woodland. Peaceful and relaxing.

N'a pas aimé: Toilets sometimes has difficulty flushing and there is no hot water for washing up, but this can be easily fixed by boiling water beforehand

A aimé : This place is FULL of magic. Gorgeous trees, wildlife, wildflowers and not overly crowded. It was wonderful making memories with my 3 year old, sat around a fire singing, dancing and playing our drum. The other guests on-site were lovely. The shop isn’t far away if you forget something or want to travel light. The facilities are a lot better equipped than I was expecting to turn up to. There’s some seriously good values and connection with nature here!

N'a pas aimé: The gate at the front kept swinging back everytime I went to open the other side. I found it quite funny but if there’s an option to put a hook up I’m sure some people would appreciate it. The road up to it is narrow and if you meet other traffic you need to be able to reverse for a good distance, not many passing places. We live in Cornwall and are familiar with these types of roads but I know some people might struggle.

A aimé : Wonderful set up in lovely wood which is perfect for camping as there's still plenty of daylight amongst the trees.

N'a pas aimé: The camp site is new so has a few teething problems. The access road was very muddy, it took four attempts to reverse into my camper van pitch, made harder by the pitch being higher than the road, lots of wheel spinning! There was another van next to me which had similar trouble. Three of the camper van pitches are directly opposite the parking area for cars so you do feel a bit like your camping in the parking area. The water pump is very noisy and is audible every time a tap is run, a quieter pump or acoustic box would be a good remedy.

Réponse du gestionnaire : Thank you for your review Matt, the track, parking bays, and campervan standings have all been completely re-laid, so no mud or wheel spinning going forward. The camper van pitches are now all located within the woodland and away from the parking or entrance to the camp. The water pump has also been updated, so peace has been restored.
