It’s time to get wild on Cornwall’s north coast. Family-friendly Trelay View Campsite is a simple pop-up sort of place where you can have a real outdoor adventure with the kids – and it’s one with spectacular views over woodland and valleys right to the Atlantic Ocean. And the good stuff doesn’t stop there. A pub and a shop are in the local village of Marhamchurch, five minutes' drive away. The shops, pubs and beaches of Bude are 15 minutes’ drive away, and the sweeping sandy stretch of Widemouth Bay (10 minutes' drive) is everyone’s favourite local surfing spot. The farm is also home to the Monster Slip and Slide Cornwall, a paid attraction just two minutes' drive away from the site entrance. That’s everybody sorted then – oh, and as the site is dog-friendly, your canine chums can come along for the ride too. A few other things you should know: there are portable toilet facilities and a shower (a small fee applies every 10 minutes), as well as a handy communal area with a fridge, freezer, kettle, hair dryer and phone charging points. The field has bags of room for the kids to run around, and pitches have plenty of privacy if you want to hunker down around your campfire or spark up a barbecue by night (just remember to bring a couple of torches to light your way around after dark).

Nouveau : coin commun avec micro-ondes/bouilloire, électricité disponible. Emplacement isolé et exposé. Bon rapport qualité-prix pour ceux qui apprécient la tranquillité. A aimé Perfect for what I needed, which was just a base. Enough flat space for a tent, with parking. Basic and rural, so not for someone who likes their frills. But a toilet, sink for washing up, fridge and bat and balls 😁. And, could just about see the see. About 13 minute drive to Bude and 10 to Widemouth beach, so great and extremely affordable location. Liberty messaged me to check in, and was very helpful and communicative.

A aimé Peaceful, lovely views, facilities well managed and great for price.

N'a pas aimé Only thing we found was that the Woodland walk was not great was on very steep hill down to field at bottom, long grass and thorns, Barb wire laying on the ground around the edge so had to watch where dogs went.

A aimé Nice quiet spot with countryside and sea views. There is a shower that take £1 coins and lasts around 14 mins. There are two portaloos and a washing up station. Drinking water taps around site. I decided to stay and extra night as it was so peaceful. I’m only 20 mins down the road so was worth the stay. I try to go to different places each time I head out in van. Last week was Devon and this week Cornwall. Will definitely be back

A aimé We loved this campsite. It’s peaceful, well positioned between Bude and Widemouth. Facilities are basic but excellent. The campsite has all you need. So much better than the overpriced, overpacked, noisy sites. Highly recommended. Thanks for having us.

Attractions à proximité

Keep the kids active with days out on the water at Tamar Lakes Activity Centre (20 minutes’ drive), where you can go paddleboarding and kayaking or learn to sail a dinghy. Families can easily spend a day on the fairground rides and in the petting zoo at The Milky Way Adventure Park (half an hour), or take toddlers to feed lambs (in spring) and cuddle baby goats at The BIG Sheep (45 minutes). When a day at the seaside is requested, you have a choice of North Cornwall beaches within about 15 minutes’ drive, including the popular sands and rock pool at Summerleaze Beach, the saltwater Bude Sea Pool (also 15 minutes) and the dog-friendly expanse at National Trust-owned Sandymouth Bay Beach (20 minutes). Surfers – novice and expert alike – should hotfoot it to Widemouth Bay (10 minutes) to catch its consistent Atlantic waves. If you’d rather explore on foot, grab a pair of comfy walking boats and have a meander along the South West Coast Path (five minutes), or go further afield for a yomp over heathland to the mysterious Nine Stones Stone Circle (40 minutes) on gorgeous Bodmin Moor.
