No children, but plenty of wildlife – and a field of horses as your nearest neighbours… It’s all a very relaxed and peaceful experience at adults-only Francis Fields, in rural Oxfordshire about five minutes’ drive from the market town of Deddington. This is a lovely place to relax and unwind, perhaps taking a stroll around the farm to meet the horses and ponies (ask on site if you’d like a proper introduction), finding a spot for a picnic or just chilling out in a deckchair with a drink of your choice and soaking up the uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside. It’s not just the human guests that appreciate this location – other visitors often include foxes, badgers, deer, owls and birds of prey, all of which you might catch sight of if you tread carefully or sit quietly enough. As an adults-only site children are not allowed to stay here, but travelling horses and dogs are welcome. The local pub, 10 minutes’ walk away, is also a dog-friendly place – and with tasty food and a good range of beers into the bargain. More shops and pubs are up in Deddington, along with a monthly farmers’ market. Back on site, you’ll be staying on a gently sloping field where pitches are mown into the wild grass. Solar lighting illuminates each pitch, the access track and the toilet and shower areas, and there are firepits to hire for a nice warm alfresco evening.

Ce camping réservé aux adultes offre un havre de paix avec de grands emplacements séparés et des vues magnifiques. Les installations sont impeccables. A aimé A very peaceful and clean site! We were in an enclosed pitch but would happily stay in one of the other pitches as they look lovely and space between each of them. The facilities were very clean and inviting. Lovely surprise to see a full table and chairs with parasol set up in the enclosed pitch! Also loved that there were poo bags at various points in case we got caught short while walking with the dogs round the site! Made use of the communal fridge and freezer too which was a massive bonus for us in this hot weather. As a group of 3 women we felt very secure at all times and never felt uncomfortable.

We had an issue where a gust of wind broke the parasol provided at the pitch. I contacted the site owners and they were so lovely about it.

A aimé Absolutely loved this site. My first trip with the TentBox. The pitches are so well spaced out. The views are beautiful and everyone was respectful of their neighbours. I loved the farm walk and the field margins left around each one, the wild flowers and the hedges full of blackberries. It is very rural but suited me. I didn’t quite work out how to get hot or even warm water in Shower 1 but since it was 30 degrees I happily had a cold shower. Would have loved a little emergency honesty box - forgot my coffee and was gutted but a minor suggestion not a complaint. The horses sighing was the best sound.

A aimé Big gravel area next to the sand school. Lovely farmyard setting with horse activity just over the fence. Nice facilities just a short walk away. Decent pub just 5 mins in car.

A aimé Beautiful site with huge, private pitches. It was incredibly quiet and peaceful, making for a really relaxing stay. We only stayed for one night, so we didn’t use the showers, but from what we could see, they were very clean. The toilets were also spotless and fresh.

The only small thing I’d suggest is adding another toilet or two, as there were only two toilets for the whole site. We had a porta potty in our campervan, so it wasn’t an issue for us, but as the site is primarily aimed at tents, I think a couple of extra toilets would be a great addition.

Overall, probably one of the best sites we’ve been on and definitely going to keep returning!

A aimé We loved everything about this pop up site. It was amazingly peaceful at all times, the facilities were spotless and well positioned. The ehu point was nice and close to our pitch and the water tap was only a short walk across the courtyard.
We enjoyed a scenic walk into the village nearby and stopped off for a drink in the local pub.
We adored this site and will definitely return, thank you for a lovely stay.

Staying at Francis Fields, you’ll be just on the edge of the Cotswolds National Landscape, putting you within easy reach of lots of gorgeous walking and cycling routes (and a good number of country pubs to stop at…) Some favourite options nearby include walks around the Rollright Stones, or a grander tour of Broughton Castle (both 20 minutes’ drive). Even grander are the lavish stately home and landscaped gardens (designed by Capability Brown, no less) at Blenheim Palace (15 minutes). If your current togs aren’t up to scratch for such things, hit the outlet stores at Bicester Village (20 minutes). The Cotswolds Distillery (25 minutes) is another good place to shop, with a café and distillery tours on offer too. Other days out nearby might take you into Oxford (half an hour) to tour the colleges and museums or try your hand at the art of punting, or to the high-speed action at the Silverstone circuit (35 minutes).
