Nothing to dislike. All as to be expected. Our pitch was a a little uneven compared to some others we seen but didn’t effect our stay at all.

Spontaneous one night stay here in Feb, great communication prior to arrival and then once we arrived, lovely couple who run the site. Lovely spacious pitches- with it being Feb the lower field is currently not in use due to waterlogged field so we was in what is the usual electric hook up pitches. But the lower field looked great for future camps.
Toilet and shower block lovely and warm and clean.
We already had a future stay booked so we can’t wait to return in a couple of weeks for a longer weekend stay

The staff were friendly, the gent recommended a local pub and said that we would be made to feel welcome, he was so right. We went to The Seven Stars which is 20 mins away but it was well worth the journey, so mush so that we went both nights

The pitch was a decent size, the gent even came out to lend a hand, in the rain, when it became obvious we were struggling on this maiden outing of our new tent.

There are plenty of services including toilets, showers, waste disposal, water, electricity, washing machine, dryer, fridge and sinks for pot washing.

We really liked the size of the shower cubicles, there is a space for clothes and to get changed separated by a shower curtain.

I really liked the fact that there are barriers with a code to exit and enter the site.

The site is peaceful but it is central to lots of attractions. We went to Matlock Bath and Sherwood Forest, both of which are handy to get to from the site.

It would have been easier to identify the entrance to the site had there been a sign on the roadside.

I was concerned when I noticed that the ceiling above the ladies toilets is very shiny and you can see your toilet neighbours.

Cleanliness in the toilets could have been improved. Yes it was wet and muddy, however, there was what looked like faeces on the back of a toilet door for the whole weekend. One of the locks on the door is broken and the hand dryer smelled of burning.

We had pitch 5 fully serviced but really small , the other 9 could fit cars on in front of the vans but ours had to be parked sideways partly on grass and mud , unlucky maybe but maybe they could have moved prior to arrival smaller vans or motorhomes to the smaller pitch. Will come again now we know which pitch NOT to have… also won’t go there this time of year as real mud bath car and caravan ditched .. summer time then yes .

Good views great wood next door for dog walking. Bus stop outside for Nottingham and Mansfield. Small shop. Friendly reception. Very peaceful and two pubs nearby

We booked via Pitchup for a stay at Riddings Wood Holiday Park in a Woodland Lodge. We had a lovely stay. The lodge was very clean and well presented with just enough space for two adults and two older children/teens. Staff at reception were there on arrival and gave us a warm welcome which made check in easy and relaxed.

The lodge was easy to find and the site felt quiet overall with just a little noise from cars on the main road at times but nothing too disruptive.

The sleeping arrangements worked well for us. The adults slept on the mezzanine level which is more of a mattress on a frame than a traditional bed but it was comfortable and we slept well overall. One teen used the bed made from the dining area table which turned into a huge bed. It took us a little while to figure out how to set it up but once we did it was great and the curtain gave good privacy. The other teen slept on the sofa bed in the living area although the couch itself was big enough to sleep on comfortably too.

The lodge had everything we needed including kettle, fridge, microwave, oven, hob, TV, towels and bedding, with plenty of towels and bedding provided which was really helpful. The bathroom was spacious and the shower was lovely after a day out.

On arrival we were informed the under seating heating was not working however a free standing heater had been provided which kept the lodge nice and warm. The kettle did occasionally trip the electric when the heater and fire were on at the same time but once we realised it was just an overload it was easy enough to manage.

The kitchen was well equipped for a short stay although it would benefit from sharper knives, a chopping board and a frying pan which we would bring with us next time.

The hot tub was ready on arrival, lovely and warm, very clean and felt private and secluded and was definitely a highlight of the stay.

Overall we had a great stay and would happily return. Brilliant value for money and perfect for a short family break.

A few small things that would improve the stay further would be checking the electrical load as the kettle, heater and fire together caused the electric to trip. We were informed the under seating heating was not working, so once repaired that will make the lodge even more comfortable.

The kitchen would benefit from sharper knives, a chopping board and a frying pan.
