Rushbanks Farm Caravan and Camping Site

Me gustó Loved the location and how easy it was to use our paddle boards on the river. The camp fire that we purchased and was dropped off was a lovely addition to the evening.

No me gustó People taking up some much room that we couldn't camp by the river.

Me gustó I really enjoyed my recent visit to this lovely site. The pitches right on the river made for a beautiful setting, and the experience was truly memorable. I was especially impressed by how helpful the team were throughout my stay, especially Pete with his assistance and friendliness. The facilities were good —there were plenty of toilets and showers available, and everything was kept clean and well maintained. There were visits from various coffee and food trucks and even an cream van! Rushbanks is a welcoming and well-run site; I look forward to visiting again soon!

Me gustó Different size tent pitch’s. Local wildlife, swans, cows and sheep can all be seen from the campsite, as well as a canoe and paddle board option, Beautiful walks and friendly staff. Peter helped us when our tent was leaking in the rain and was very helpful and friendly. Would definitely re visit.

Me gustó Local destination and looked perfect on the pictures on website. however not what get .

No me gustó No marked pitches. No solar lights for paths.would benefit from a small onsite shop cupboard essentials eg bacon . eggs.milk and sweets treats. Would be a better idea to pay more for a river pitch as this first come first and very cramped differently not 6 m observed . No GENERATORS allowed as we had to listen to this all night very very remote

The open-pitch layout is actually something most of our campers love — it gives everyone room to spread out and find their own spot. We're in an official dark zone too, so lighting the paths isn't something we're able to do, but a head torch or phone torch does the trick and there's nothing quite like wandering back to your tent under the stars.

As we mention on the website, Rushbanks is fully off-grid, which means no permanent shop — but we do list brilliant local producers and farm shops nearby that are well worth a visit.

Good shout on the generators too — they're not permitted on site, so if anyone ever hears one, please grab a member of the team straight away and we'll sort it.

No me gustó We paid £25 for a fire pit, which we could only have used for 30 odd minutes due to there being a hole in the bottom that we didnt notice until the fire fell through and set the grass alight, resulting in having to quickly put the fire out.

Spoke to the bloke the following morning and he didnt seem bothered and said yeah sometimes that happens.

Me gustó Good clean toilets, hot showers perfect for a rinse down after a day on the river. Beautiful river setting, excellent family site.

Me gustó Fantastic few days spent at rushbanks farm this summer holidays. Excellent location, with direct access from the site into the river stour, perfect for canoeing and paddleboarding. Great site facilities and lots of space between pitches. Really enjoyed our stay with lots of wildlife to see, sunsets and marshmallows by the camp fire. Will be sure to visit again, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Attentive hosts and the site is really well thought of, clean and well maintained. Perfect first camping trip.

No me gustó Didn't make it clear that swimming wasn't allowed in river (due to pollution), however was OK for us to hire a kayak for £65 - we didn't, due to high price.
Big issue was made by printed rules handed to us about 3metres distance between each pitch and dogs being kept off-lead. First night there was plenty of room either side of us and around all pitches in our field. When returning from day out 2nd day, we found a dog turd right outside our tent - wasn't deposited by our dog as we'd been out all day. 2 different dogs were roaming around campsite off-lead with nothing said by staff members. We were also crammed in by new arrivals pitching up right next door to us either side (only about 2 feet either side of us). Every pitch in our field was really crammed in & the next field over we saw everyone crammed in like sardines too - again no action from staff members despite the printed campsite rules about distances between pitches due to fire safety etc. We know they want to make their money over summer holidays but why bother giving everyone a printed set of rules upon arrival if they mean nothing. We wouldn't return to this campsite due to their apparent greed. If you want a quiet, relaxing campsite where you can enjoy the countryside then go to a different campsite!

On the river — the condition of all UK rivers has been widely covered in the national news over the past few years. To be clear, the no-swimming guidance only applies to our small stretch of riverside land. Many campers choose to happily swim downstream on their paddle to the pub, which is part of what makes a stay here special.

On the canoe hire — the fee covers a full nine hours on the water, includes children's buoyancy aids, insurance and the river license, and is the best-value hire in East Anglia. Most of our guests use it to paddle down to The Anchor Inn, Nayland for lunch and paddle back through the heart of Constable country in the afternoon — it's one of the real highlights of staying here, and feedback on that experience is consistently brilliant.

On pitch spacing — The distance guidance in our welcome pack is our standard, and we work hard to maintain it across the season. I think you were located in a busier part of the site and were unlucky that you left the site and other campers may not have known that was your spot.

On the dog situation outside your tent — we're sorry it happened. From check-in, we do ask owners to keep dogs on leads and clean up after them, have dog signs up and our team reinforces that whenever we see a dog off their lead or are informed of it. We ask all campers to flag these issue to us.

We'd genuinely welcome you back outside peak season to see the version of Rushbanks most of our regulars know and love.
