What a gorgeous spot for a break in the fresh air of Eryri/Snowdonia National Park. Cae Du Campsite is on the banks of the River Glaslyn less than a mile from the pretty village of Beddgelert. Now, if you’ve heard of Beddgelert, that may well be because it’s known as something of a hub for approachable walking trails, and it’s got a Welsh Highland Railway station – and both of these elements make it a good base for exploring your surroundings. On top of that, the village has its own attraction in the form of Gelert’s Grave, and it’s got several pubs, cafés and craft shops too. The walks from Beddgelert aren’t the only options around here, of course – in fact, one of the national park’s big (literally) attractions is just up the road in the form of Yr Wyddfa/Mount Snowdon. It’ll take you about five minutes to drive to the trailhead for the Watkin Path, passing the pretty Llyn Dinas lake as you go (handy for a post-climb wild swim perhaps?) And there’s plenty more to keep you busy… including a short walk to the excellent Sygun Copper Mine, an outing to the beach in Porthmadog, an adrenaline-filled excursion to Zip World Llechwedd or history-tinged wanders around the castles of Criccieth and Caernarfon. Little bit tired after whichever outing you chose? Well, there’s plenty of space to relax back at the park, and you should hopefully sleep well in these peaceful surroundings. Wifi, a washing-up area, a launderette and bathrooms with toilets and showers are on hand to make life comfortable, and you’ll be allowed to bring a barbecue or light a campfire to finish your day in traditional camping style.

Liked Really enjoyed our stay at Cae Du - plenty of facilities, so no waiting for a shower or the loo! The grounds were really well looked after and there was always a member of the team around if you had any questions - information centre had loads of info for walks, transport or wild swimming, the camp is also a short walk into the village to catch the Sherpa bus for Snowdon (or you can even walk from camp to the start of the Watkins trail!)

The village is small so stocking up on supplies is worthwhile but there are a couple of nice pubs that you can get lunch/dinner from after a day of exploring the beautiful scenery!

Our first trip to Wales, will definitely be going back and will be stopping at Cae Du when we do

Disliked If I’m being picky, the WiFi was in and out but you don’t go camping to sit on your phone so I wouldn’t even call it a negative!

Liked Great site. Well spaced out and identified pitches. 5-10 minutes walk into Beddgelert on a footpath/quiet B road.

Disliked We travel light so, a little on site shop would be good.

Liked Very pretty well maintained site in easy walking access to the village. The pitches are well spread & the communal facilities clean & well maintained. Chemically waste points are at different points around the site, but a bit remote from some pitches.

Disliked Chemical waste point was a much longer carry than was comfortable for the hard standing pitches where we were placed.

Liked We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cae Du. Stunning mountains all around, friendly and helpful staff, great facilities and endless walks to try. I particularly liked that they had hairdryers in the shower areas! Will definitely be coming back.

Liked Like all of it. The walks they show on the board are good about 10 of them did about 3 in 4 days. Easy to find if you follow the instructions. Showers good, nice dog walk around camp and a family area

Disliked Recycle bin for tins needs to be bigger as only a small one. But rest is good
