What customers say

Pen Y Bont Caravan Park is lauded for its top-notch, contemporary amenities, spotless ablution facilities, and obliging staff. Situated beautifully, it offers ample pitches near Bala Lake and town. Reviewers rave about the tranquil vibe, tidy grounds, and handy shop. While mostly excellent, some note road noise on select pitches and intermittent WiFi.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Warm welcome and friendly staff who were more than accommodating when we had a dilemma, must have been the wettest weekend on record and our tent had a leak. We were assisted by the staff and ensured we could be dry for the 2nd night

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much Joe! We will always do our best to help out in an emergency - it was extremely wet on Saturday!

Branwen shepherd's hut (hot tub)

Liked Beautiful location, friendly and helpful staff. The Hot tub was ready when we arrived and hot. View from accommodation was great.

Disliked We stopped in the shepherd hut branwen. This was great apart from dog hairs on throw on the bed.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you Paul, we're glad you enjoyed your stay in Branwen - the view from that particular hut is rather special!

Apologies for the dog hairs found on the throw, all 3 huts are dog friendly but this does not excuse the hair - we will strive to make sure this does not happen again.

Kind Regards, Team PYB

Local attractions

For those days where you can’t be bothered to walk too far, it’s very handy that the station for the narrow-gauge Bala Lake Railway is just five minutes’ walk away. Views of the water are a given, but count the mountains too: Arenig Fawr, Aran Fawddwy and Aran Benllyn are visible on the route. You may have your sights set on climbing Wales’ tallest mountain, perhaps. If you’re not climbing up Snowdon (an hour's drive) yourself, you might want to take the Snowdon Mountain Railway (an hour and five minutes), which has been making its ascent for over 100 years. A less strenuous trail than the Snowdon climb is the Mawddach Trail, which runs for just under 10 miles from Dolgellau (half an hour), crossing over the gorgeous Barmouth railway bridge on the other end. Coed y Brenin Forest Park (35 minutes) has plenty of trails too, through thick forest this time. You can take them on by mountain bike, standard bicycle or on foot – and there’s bike hire at the forest park.
