Electric grass pitch

Liked The Reception staff are friendly and helpful. The shop was a great bonus and the bar/restaurant reasonably priced. Plenty of space for children to play football or fish.

Disliked The drive in has huge potholes which caused an issue with our caravan. The showers are terrible! Very small and hardly any hot water or pressure. Not regularly cleaned either. The activities like clay pigeon shooting were not on. Overheard there are some issues at a top level and site is being left to go to ruin! Such a shame.

Liked Lovely large pitch, clean toilets and showering facilities. Good range of activities for the family and friendly bar and restaurant staff.

Disliked The British summer weather (rain), but won’t hold them responsible for that.🤣

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked Amazing stay at the marwell resort. We’ve done nearly all the activities which have been run and managed extremely well. The fishing onsite is brilliant, very flexible, We’ve fished morning afternoons and evenings on separate occasions. The marwell zoo is close by, we’re in a camper so got a cab which was £15 (minimum rate)The restaurant food is outstanding we had multiple pizzas, grills and specials, the food is way above campsite standard. All facilities onsite are brilliant and very clean.

Disliked Only one downside, the high wire was closed and some activities weren't available.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked Staff helpful and accommodating. Pitches well maintained and spacious. Clean
shower and toilets. Washing up facilities good.

Disliked Toilet facilities would have been nice near our pitch (G1) especially at night. The walk to toilets at night was a little scary!

Electric grass pitch

Liked The wild meadows dog walk and the lakes.
Nice location.

Disliked Bar seemed to only be open odd hours. Staff weren’t the friendliest and they seemed very understaffed with one member doing multiple things.
Shop was very small and didn’t have a wide selection.
Place seemed very run down and outdated. It has such potential to be an amazing site but it just felt like a camp site where your school used to take you. The washing up facilities were good but the space had such potential such as having large freezers to store freezer bags, food etc. it could have done with a paint also to freshen it up. There were empty vending machines that they could have filled and space to add some cheap toy machines.
The ground was awful with random holes on the main pathway - our pitch had a massive hole in the middle which we all kept tripping on despite there being sand.
There should have been more signage for vehicles/ pedestrians as the cars sped through and drove too quickly. I’m aware it’s private land so there’s no requirement to have signs etc but other campsites have done and it makes such a difference. It would have felt safer having a proper crossing for pedestrians as the main track felt like a race course and an accident waiting to happen.
The site should also be signposted with a speed limit to ensure safety.
The showers were awful; only on for a few seconds before you had to push the button again. They weren’t the cleanest as I think the staff struggled to keep up with the footfall. The water pressure was also awful and came out as a drizzle. There were no family showering units which meant my husband wasn’t able to assist with the girls; not ideal if he was camping on his own with them.
The toilets themselves were tiny. Barely enough room to shut the door and I’m not the biggest person.
There was an old play castle near our pitch but was out of action and has been for a while which is a shame as it has such potential.
The children were happy and played well and spent a lot of time in the fields but would have been nice to have something a bit closer to the pitch for them to do.
Also there was no noise curfew which I’m fine with usually but when you have children running around and screaming at gone midnight it’s a bit annoying.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review. We’re really glad you enjoyed the natural surroundings of our site, especially the wild meadows, lakes, and open space for children to play—these are things we’re proud to offer our guests.

We’re sorry to hear that certain aspects of your stay didn’t meet your expectations, and we appreciate you sharing your feedback.

Just to clarify a few points you raised:

Speed and site safety: We do have speed limit signs displayed around the park and take safety very seriously. That said, we are reviewing whether additional signage or traffic calming measures might help further improve awareness.

Family bathroom: We do have a designated family bathroom located at the end of the main shower block next to the washing-up area. It offers ample space for parents assisting children, and we’re sorry if this wasn’t clearly signposted during your stay.

The “play castle”: The structure you referred to is actually a storage shed and is not intended for guest use. We’ll make sure its appearance doesn’t cause confusion moving forward.

Noise curfew: We operate a 10:30 PM quiet time policy, and our site warden carries out regular walkarounds to help enforce this. Every guest is also provided with the warden’s phone number so that any concerns after hours can be dealt with promptly. We’re sorry if your experience didn’t reflect that, and we would have appreciated the opportunity to help had we known at the time.

Facilities: We do understand that some of our facilities can feel dated and are actively making improvements. We're also reviewing vending and freezer availability, and appreciate your suggestions.

We’re continuously working on making the site more enjoyable and accessible for all our guests, and your feedback is very helpful in highlighting areas to improve.

Thanks again, and we hope to welcome you back in the future.

A great campsite with everything we needed that I would recommend!

Electric grass pitch

Liked The site was really nice. The staff were welcoming on arrival and friendly during our stay. The pitches were nice an level and fairly spacious. All of the facilities were clean, it was nice having lots of showers. It was great being so close to Marwell Zoo & not far from Southampton for day trips. The food and live music was excellent.

Disliked The play area was a little disappointing and in need of improvement. The tree house was rickety & didn’t seem very safe & there was another wooden play house that was out of bounds.

Local attractions

Marwell Zoo (five minutes' drive) has over 140 different species to admire – you can also leave the car back at base and stroll over (about 20 minutes) for a pedestrian safari. Paultons Park (25 minutes' drive) is another perennial fave for family-oriented days out – here you can meet Peppa Pig, crash down log flumes or opt for wanders through a dinosaur-filled forest. The South Downs National Park has some truly splendid hiking trails, including the 100-mile-long South Downs Way (the trail starts 15 minutes down the road in Winchester). Mountain bikers also have plenty to choose from around these parts – an exhilarating bike track through the woods is on hand in the nearby village of Bishopstoke (10 minutes). The gorgeous New Forest National Park (25 minutes) is also within easy reach, and one of the best ways to get around is by open-top tour bus. There are three routes to choose from – it all comes down to whether you prefer vistas of heather-covered heathland or coastal explores. Speaking of the sea, beaches like Lepe and Highcliffe Castle (both 40 minutes) are very much worth the journey (make sure to pack jelly shoes and a towel if at all tempted).
