  • Small CAMC members-only site in Cumbria, a mile from Levens
  • In the Lake District National Park, 15 mins' drive from Windermere
  • Gravel electric pitches with a top-notch food pub next door
Trying to find a handy Cumbria stopover close to main roads or a useful base for a longer break spent exploring the southern part of the Lake District National Park? Either way, if you're a Caravan and Motorhome Club member, River Gilpin at Valley End Certificated Location would be a sound choice. This small site (for CAMC members only) is a quiet place with just a handful of touring pitches, all of which have full services (electric, water and waste) as well as lovely scenic views. Shared facilities include wifi, an outdoor washing-up area and a smart toilet and shower block. Just inside the boundaries of the Lake District National Park, this is a semi-rural location with easy access from the A590 and A5074. The village of Levens is just over a mile away – but more importantly the local pub is pretty much next door (and it's a popular one too, with a menu of locally sourced food as well as a good range of drinks). With several walking trails in the area around Levens, this is a good base for exploring some of the local scenery; there are also a couple of historic houses very close by, or you can get to the shores of Windermere with a 15-minute drive.

What customers say

Clean, spacious site with great facilities, ideal for M6/Lake District access. Dog-friendly pub next door. Secure entry, good WiFi. Some road noise & limited loos when busy. Price felt steep for a few.

Liked Beautifully kept site, very convenient to main roads, shower/toilets very clean - good hot water in the shower.
Barrier & access all straight forward.
Caravan electric teething problems meant we cut our stay short but will definitely be back and hopefully have chance to dine at neighbouring pub!

Disliked Nothing, there is a little road noise but that is a price to pay for convenience.

Liked Lovely sized pitches and everything was so clean & tidy .. Close to a great pub which is very dog friendly and we had meals there on both our nights. Stunning views from the site and we really enjoyed our stay.

Disliked Some road noise but we soon adjusted and it wouldn’t stop us from returning as it was probably the prettiest and cleanest site we have ever stopped on.
