Nice pub
Level pitches throughout the site
The thames head inn, between cirencester and tetbury
There's plenty of greenery around the site

  • Peaceful site on the edge of the Gloucestershire Cotswolds
  • 10 minutes’ drive from the towns of Cirencester and Tetbury
  • In the grounds of the Thames Head Inn bar-restaurant
Stunning landscapes, scenic market towns and the peace and quiet of the Cotswolds… How could you say no to that? At family-friendly site The Thames Head Inn, four miles from Cirencester market town in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds, you definitely won't want to miss the chance. Thames Head is well-placed for exploring the spectacular Cotswolds on foot or by bike – the start of the Thames Path, which follows the world-famous river for 184 miles from source to sea, is half a mile from the site, and there are loads of cycles tours and walking routes starting in Cirencester and Tetbury, both within 10 minutes’ drive of the site. If that's not your scene, kick back on the dog-friendly site in the shade of the trees, soaking in the scenic and peaceful Cotswolds countryside, or take a relaxed stroll through the fields with Rex. Worked up an appetite? The site is in the grounds of the Thames Head Inn bar-restaurant, where food is served well into the evening and the drinks keep flowing until closing (remember to book a table, as mealtimes can get very busy). If you fancy fending for yourself, pick up supplies in Cirencester or Kemble – a 20-minute walk away – and fire up the barbecue. For a change of scenery – and menus – there are plenty of restaurants within 10 minutes of Thames Head.

What customers say

This neat little campsite's lauded for its flat, roomy hardstanding pitches, tidiness, and welcoming staff. Next to a good pub with decent grub, it’s ideal for exploring the Cotswolds or walking to the Thames source. Some guests mentioned dated loos/showers and road noise, but most found it manageable, especially if self-contained.

Electric gravel touring pitch (large)

Liked Great to have a lovely pub on site! Nice big pitches. Warm welcome. Does have both chemical and grey waste disposal and a tap for filling up. EHU nice and close to pitch. Picnic area with benches in grassy middle. Easy to get to railway station although roads are without pavements

Electric gravel touring pitch (large)

Liked We love it hear, the pub provided such amazing food at reasonable prices. There is plenty of walks nearby which we highly recommend such beautiful scenery. The site has one toilet with shower, we didn’t use it as we used the one in our van but always seemed clean and tidy.
The site is small with all hard standing which was nice and peaceful.
We do love it here for weekend it’s perfect.
Thank you for having us with such warm welcome.

Disliked The only thing I would say is that there is no nights at night towards the toilets, we didn’t mind as we had a torch and used our own van.

Electric gravel touring pitch (large)

Liked Tidy & clean small site. Friendly efficient staff.
Pitches quiet and separate from pub car park.
Popular good pub and food. Bitter was well above average, I can only speculate they have the secret of keeping pumps & pipes clean, where so many others appear ignorant these days.
Close to spring source of the Thames.
No WiFi at pitches, but we had good 4G signal and satellite dish aligned easily.

Disliked We felt it a little pricey for a limited simple site, but it does include unmetered electric.
Only 1 combined toilet/shower a little distant from the pitches. Bathroom is somewhat outdated, but it was clean & heated.
