Gulliver's Meadow Campsite: Grass pitches with electrical hookups

General

  • Family-friendly site next door to Gulliver's Land theme park
  • Just over a mile from the shops and amenities of central Milton Keynes
  • Pub, watersports centre and adventure park within walking distance

Gulliver’s Meadow Caravan and Camping Site is a grand place to spend your Buckinghamshire break.

That’s particularly true for those bringing kids along – not only does it have heaps of space for them to gallop about, but it’s also handily placed right next door to the fab Gulliver’s Land theme park (so that’s a few days out sorted… as they’ll probably helpfully suggest).

There’s plenty to appeal to the grownups here too: all that playing space is conveniently placed to allow for parents to keep an eye on their offspring while putting their feet up on their own patch. Amenities have been added to make life run smoothly, including a parent-and-baby bathroom and a launderette to sort out any mucky pups.

That site is a tree-filled peaceful one, but it’s easy to take a break from driving duties as there’s much within easy toddling distance here: lakeside strolls, watersports, fishing and an adventure park are all within a few minutes’ walk, as is a riverside pub. You could even amble the mile or so into central Milton Keynes for cinemas, shops and restaurants, but there’s always the option of flagging down a bus if you’re feeling faint of foot.

Want to venture a bit further? There’s plenty more to see and do in the surrounds, and the M1’s only a couple of minutes away – thus making Gulliver’s Meadow a super stopover option on cross-country jaunts too.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Reception is unmanned after 6 p.m.. Please inform the park while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time so that the team can provide information about your unit/site.

If you have a pod they don’t allow you to have your vehicle next to the pod mine the pod we stayed in was the end pod so having my vehicle parked behind mine wasn’t blocking anyone or causing a hazard yet everyday I was asked to move it very frustrating as the pods are small so we kept suitecases in the car to save room and needed quick access to them. Also I was told gas and electricity but there was never any gas provided.

Play areas in most of the fields were great. Kids loved it and we felt safe letting the older ones roam. Facilities block was great although going 36hrs with no handwash in the ladies toilets was pretty bad, particularly in a pandemic!
Pods were comfortable, if snug (as I expected!). Beds comfortable and bedding clean. Great location for Willen Lake activities.

    Disliked:

Not being able to bring a car onsite to unload and load is AWFUL!!! Imagine carting a full family’s stuff by trolley from a car parked hundreds of metres away around a number of obstacles and across a road. This has to change as the approach was inconsistent, which is infuriating. There were loads of cars on-site, for campers and caravanners and even for some of the pods. But I was told a categorical no. So I had to take two young children with me (unable to hold their hands to cross a road etc) or leave them in the pod for 10 mins while I went to the car and loaded up a trolley to wheel it all back (twice as one journey wasn’t enough to fit it in). This is so far from ideal and would really put me off returning. It is unacceptable and I would like to warn others in my boat who are considering a pod. The owner’s son said his Dad would help me by bringing his car round but that offer didn’t come good and I just dealt with it myself (honestly, just let me bring the damn car onsite instead). Just so frustrating.
Also the lack of soap in the toilet block was an easy fix they could’ve dealt with. The owners were quite dismissive when we arrived and I felt the welcome could’ve been warmer.

The kids loved all the play areas around the camp sites. The entertainment of an evening was good too.

    Disliked:

The ladies toilet soap ran out, the manager was advised. Hand sanitiser was put in but the soap wasn't topped up all weekend. The manager told a few people they weren't pitched up in the right place and they would have to move their whole tent but then said they didn't. There were electric leads across the field where you had to walk to across to get to the toilets and showers. It felt like they were trying to pack in as many tents as they could. My dog got out the tent once and ran after my boy, she did bark at the manager but went nowhere near him, the next day I heard he'd told other campers that my dog bit the leg of his trousers!

Local attractions

What’s that little tug on your sleeve? Could it be the tiddlers encouraging you towards Gulliver’s Land? No surprises there – the place is packed with more than 70 rides and shows, all aimed at fun-seekers aged between two and 13. A log flume, an indoor play area, a runaway train, a maze, an enchanted forest, a cowboy town… it’s safe to say there’s stacks here for the small sorts.

And the surrounds are stacked too: take a short walk to Willen Lake for activities both watery and landlubbing. Get wet with freshwater swims, wakeboarding, windsurfing or a go on the inflatable obstacle course, or keep your powder dry with hours of walks, archery, fishing, miniature railway rides and treks on the treetop trails.

There’s a multitude of Milton Keynes cultural doings nearby too – the site is a few minutes’ drive from shows at the Milton Keynes Theatre and historic collections at the Milton Keynes Museum, and about 10 minutes from Bletchley Park, where you can get up to speed on the exploits of the World War II codebreakers.
