  • Peaceful site with well-kept gardens a 15-minute walk from Lauzerte
  • An hour's drive from Latour-Marliac water gardens and a Walibi park
  • Swimming pool, tennis courts, playground and bar with shaded terrace
Le Beauvillage by name, le beau village by nature… Aptly named Le Beauvillage is just outside Lauzerte, a pretty medieval bastide town that also makes a splendid base for touring the Lot, Tarn and Garonne regions. It’s about a 15-minute stroll from the site to the village centre, so guests here have that fab mix of both peaceful surrounds and easy access to amenities including restaurants, a supermarket and lots of little shops (between the baker, the butcher and the wine cellar you should be able to pull together a pretty decent dinner with minimal effort). On site, the well-kept gardens have plenty of space for chilling out, feasting at the picnic tables and snoozing in little shaded spots. Should you require a little gentle activity, you can bat balls around at the tennis court or table tennis, take a swim in the outdoor pool or grab a table on the shaded terrace for ice creams or drinks from the bar (handily located next to a playground for any tiddlers who don’t share their elders’ enthusiasm for sitting down).

Local attractions

This is one of those areas that’s peppered with little villages to poke around in. The obvious place to start is your local village of Lauzerte – there are lots of little cafés and bars to frequent in its well restored centre, and a lovely pilgrims’ garden on the edge of town; if you can, time at least one visit to coincide with the farmers’ market on a Wednesday or Saturday. Other fab villages to visit nearby include Moissac, Montcuq and Montaigu-de-Quercy (where there’s also a lovely lake beach). If countryside is more your thing, there’s plenty of that to be seen too. Several walking trails leave from the village, and the GR65 long-distance trail passes close by. Hikes around historic Saint-Cirq Lapopie are around an hour away, as are more gentle wanderings through the water gardens at Latour-Marliac (where it’s said that Claude Monet developed his love of water lilies). Kid-friendly outings nearby include the dinosaur forest, farm park and tractor rides at Animaparc and the rides and rollercoasters at the Walibi theme park near Agen. Both are around an hour’s drive away. Toulouse is around an hour and a quarter away for boat rides, museums and visits to the space museum.
