Pitchup.com wins Best UK Travel Information Site

Last Tuesday we ventured out of our motorhomes for a sterling night at the Travolution Awards at Battersea Power Station.
Judged by a panel of experts, these national awards are given annually for excellence in online travel, digital marketing and technology.
Some of the world’s most forward-thinking minds in travel gathered under the derelict roof of one of the nation’s most iconic buildings – poetic, no? All eyes were on the stage during supper as presenters Elle Macpherson and Calum Best helped to raise £16,000 for the charity National Association for Children of Alcoholics .
Then came the awards…the BBC's Jeremy Vine took to the stage to announce the winner for our category – Best Travel Information Site. Up against formidable competition including TripAdvisor, Thomson, Travelzoo and MSN Travel, we held our breath.
He started: " This winner was considered, above the other contenders, to have had the biggest impact on its sector by creating a site that conveyed a personality and a real sense of fun. Judges liked the attention to detail and the clever use of linking information to external sites. The site reflected an expertise and passion in the sector it serves. One judge said: 'I don’t camp but it made me want to go round the site' ."
We were elated to hear Pitchup.com announced as the winner and arrived shocked on stage to collect the award from Jeremy and Travolution editor, Lee Hayhurst.
We’d like to share this award with all of the campsites, holiday parks and other friends of Pitchup.com that have supported us and promoted us to their own customers.
After launching the site only a year ago we're thrilled to achieve this national recognition, and with nearly 1m visitors so far are now even more excited about the future.
We look forward to continuing to match our users with their perfect sites and generating even more bookings for our suppliers as 2011 approaches.
