Power optional concrete slab site
Liked The owners of this site are so lovely and went out of there way to help, no ask was ever to much, she was so kind, thoughtful, helpful and genuinely lovely to chat to!
When we got there We didn’t have a cable long enough to reach the electric point so they lent us one which was great and very helpful.
Food in the pub was lovely, we stayed for a wedding on site which was great, the beer garden is fab and the venue for weddings was great.
There was a random horse wondering around the site on the loose when we arrived which was quickly guided back to a separate part and chained to something, I think it was someone’s who lived on site.
There was a small group of ducks which were so lovely to see, they kept coming up to the tent and were very friendly and looking for food !
There is a train track at the bottom of the site which was quite cool to see going past, it wasn’t too loud for us but if you are a light sleeper then this could be an issue for you although it didn’t seem to run all night.
Disliked The campsite is basic which is fine but a few things to be aware of, there is one male shower on the site, which also has a toilet in, there is only one other separate male toilet, so two in total but if someone is showering your left with one. There is two female showers one with a toilet and 2 separate toilets so 3 altogether for women.
I never saw any toilet roll for the two nights I was there luckily we brought some with us! Hot water taps don’t seem to work on any of the sinks and seem to be broken but there was hot water in the shower luckily!
It does seem allot of the other people on the site seemed more permanent, no one on the campsite really spoke to us apart from the odd person walking there dog past us, which is fine but I’m usually used to everyone being chatty on campsites ! No issue though just an observation!
No lights are on the campsite so had to use a phone as a torch but this was fine, just don’t trip over the wandering ducks !
My friend who was getting married was staying above the pub, and there is a woman who rents one of the rooms as a permanent resident and complained about us making any noise, we where only chatting and had some background music on to get ready for the big day ! The owner was so lovely about it though! Apparently she works nights on the phone, god knows how she got through the wedding reception as the 5 man band was on till 11:30pm the next day and was allot louder than our chatting or mini speaker the night before ! 😂 I think she needs to move out or get some insulation on the adjoining wall, because her complaining is not what you want when you’re all excited for a big day!
All in all would stay again if I had another wedding to go to as it’s ideal for that and the owner is lovely.
