The Beech Hut shepherd's hut
Liked The location was so peaceful, surrounded by beautiful trees and a stream running nearby. We sat eating breakfast looking and listening to the variety of different birds that were visiting the bird feeders...wonderful!
The little hut was cosy and warm with a lovely little log burner and a large comfortable bed. It had everything you needed and our dog Jake was able to run around the fenced garden without any restrictions. A perfect little gem that made our 3 day stay over the Xmas period very enjoyable.
Disliked The cooking facilities were rather restricting .We did take our Air frier but having just one hob and one small saucepan limited our ability to cook a variety of vegetables at a time. I think a double hop and larger saucepans would be an advantage .
We didn't want to eat out during this period so we managed with a few adaptations. Otherwise everything else was perfect.

Unpowered concrete slab motorhome site
Liked The owners were so helpful and extremely friendly. Their love of dogs was very apparent, which sat well with us as we are the same and have a very happy little Yorkshire terrier who enjoyed the attention and meeting other well behaved pooches 🐾🐾
The food in the pub was exceptional, obviously home cooked and very delicious.
They were holding a quiz night when we arrived. Normally that wouldn't be our thing but we decided to join in and it was fun.
Our pitch for the Campervan was very close to the pub , which was handy and surprisingly quiet.
The dogs have to be on lead , normal for a campsite. They have a couple of large fields they can be exercised in.
We could drive off site to visit the local attractions and come back which was handy as there were no buses off season.
Disliked Only one quibble .. the site lacked facilities.
One shower block was out of order, due to a cracked pipe, no fault of the owners. However the other showers were very basic , with just two unisex toilets, basins and a very small area to wash cooking utensils. They were clean and we were told we could use the Pub toilets when open.
However if our visit was during the busy summer season , I would imagen there wouldn't be enough toilets or showers to accommodate everyone.
