Liked Quiet site a short drive from both Newgale and Solva. Great loos and washing facilities. Loved the friendly and inquisitive horses in the next field.
Disliked Shower auto shut-off valves a bit too quick and unable to produce constant temperature

From the manager: Hi Richard, Many thanks for taking the time to review Newgale Campsite. We appreciate your comments about the shower but if we don't make a small charge, we find campers tend to stay in the showers a lot longer and create queues. This weekend, we hosted a group of youngsters from Cardiff football group. This is the 3rd year we have hosted them and it appears the group has grown to a size which is not unsuitable for our campsite and the children impacted our other campers in a negative manner. We have spoken to the group leader and agree that they will look for somewhere more suitable for next year. We're sorry to hear you won't recommend us or revisit, you'll see we have a 9 out of 10 rating on Pitch up which is due to the large amount of positive reviews we get. Perhaps a trip to us in September would be more suited to your requirements, Best wishes, Clare Harris.

Liked Quiet, basic site used as a stopover for us before an early LeShuttle journey. Very convenient for this.

Liked Conveniently located next-door to an inexpensive public swimming pool. We stayed for 3 nights in blistering heat but many of the pitches are well shaded between mature trees. Dated but clean facilities that seemed ample for the number of guests. There are different food vans that turn up each night. Very cheerful staff.
The area is lovely and perfect for cycling. There appeared to be a cycle path running alongside the nearby railway line that runs up and down the 'valley' but also a lovely old road named 'Route Des Grands Cru' that meanders through famous nearby appellations like Meursualt all the way to the town of Beaune past countless vineyards and winemaking estates.
The village of Santenay has a small convenience store. There's a Boulangerie, a a small cafe and a restaurant plus an excellent wine merchant where you can sit and drink some of the locally produced wine.
Beaune also has some charm with a host of places to eat and drink for all budgets.
Disliked It would have been nicer if the site was slightly closer to Santenay village centre but it is easily walkable and probably took no more than 15-20 minutes

Liked Ample sized pitch with shelter from trees. We only stayed one night as a stop-over. Very accomadating staff. We phoned to say that we would be arriving late, which was no problem at all.
Besides the campsite, it's a lovely area to visit, particularly if you have an interest in Burgundy wine. The area all the way down to Santenay is a largely flat and good for cycling through the many famous appellations and vineyards. The town of Beaune also has charm.
Disliked Didn't stay long enough to find any issues

Liked Basic site with clean facilities approx 1 mile from Stow-on-the-Wold. There’s also a lovely country pub a short walk across a few fields to a nearby village. Playground area for kids.
Disliked Wasn’t clear where the wash-up facilities were. The grass pitch area is quite sloped for a large part of its area

Liked Beautiful quiet setting on a river with pub having a beer garden with lovely views of the bridge and river. Composting toilets were kept clean and food at the pub was good with Saturday night being pizza night.
Lovely pub and campsite hosts with entertaining pub locals.
Good free WiFi at pub but nothing at the camping pitches.
Driving in locality:
Betws-y-Coed - approx 25mins
Bala - approx 20 mins
Llangollen- approx 35mins
Allen Reservoir - approx 15mins
Disliked The drainage could be better on the pitches. After three days of intermittent rain we had churned up our pitch with our campervan and almost got stuck trying to get out

Liked Lovely, accommodating host. Beautiful area, lovely nearby waterfall and good local walking. Pub within walking distance. Large, predominantly flat field. Clean, compostable toilets (x2) but better facilities in the pipeline, apparently.
Disliked Only one shower at the moment. Washing facilities are basic, i.e. one sink with only cold water. The field had suffered from a lot of rain before the season and we needed towing on and off but as the weather gets better, this shouldn't be an issue. For us it meant we couldn't easily drive anywhere, however Ca would have happily helped tow us on and off at any time

Liked The view is beautiful and there’s a village close by with a small shop and at least three pubs, some of which serve great food. There are picnic tables between each pitch along with a fire pit for each too.
