Maasbree, Limburg, The Netherlands
West powered grass site (pet friendly)
Liked Pitch was spacious and level. Facilities were modern, clean and well maintained. On site shop, restaurants and bar were to a reasonable standard. The on site lake was good for swimming and use of paddleboard. There is a woodland area about 20 minutes walk from the site to walk the dog.
Disliked The ground surface is primarily dusty earth. Manageable in the dry but it rained heavily during our stay. The surface became a fine mud which even with our best efforts seemed to get everywhere.

Powered grass and earth site
Liked Warm welcome. Spacious pitch. Clean facilities. Hosts spoke good English so that we understood all information. Easy access to section of River Doux for paddleboard and attempt at fly fishing (plenty of fish seen but none caught). An hour walk along south of river into Tournon-son-Rhone. Cycle path for most of north side of river which gave access to Rhone river side cycle path. Tournon-sir-Rhône has great selection of shops and restaurants, including excellent microbrewery adjacent to the Intermarche. Close proximity to Train de Gorge, a steam train which gives a 90 minute return journey to view gorge. Bar on site was open on Friday and Saturday for drinks and pizza. WiFi only available in the bar area.

Powered grass and gravel site (XL)
Liked Warm welcome from English speaking receptionist. Pitch was a reasonable size and well shaded by mature trees. As the temperature was 30 degrees most days this suited us. The facilities were clean and adequate for our needs.
The onsite bar had a relaxed vibe and served pizza, burger, salads and ice cream. The pool is more for kids playing than any swimming. The site is about 10 minutes walk (5 minutes drive) to a small “free” beach where we swam and used paddle board / kayak. There were also no hassles having our dog with us. There are other bigger beaches nearby but you have to pay for parking and dogs are not allowed. The site is well placed for visiting all of the southern shore of Lac Léman, from Geneva to Villeneuve.
Disliked The luke warm water in the showers. But to be fair the weather was so hot maybe this was a good thing 😊
The pitch was on a little bit of a slope and we don’t travel with levelling ramps.
There is no WiFi and very poor reception for mobile phone.

Liked Warm welcome from English speaking receptionist. Good sized pitch. Clean facilities. Proximity to village for shopping (5 minute walk to Supermarket and boulangerie). Beside river Loue, which at this location has a stretch of deep slow moving water for swimming. Plenty of walks for our dog in surrounding area. Waymarked cycle routes also in the surrounding roads.
Disliked Nothing.

Liked Friendly, warm welcome from English speaking host. Spacious pitch. Peaceful and relaxing site. Basic, but clean, facilities. Easy loop travelling into Metz for sightseeing and paddling on the River Moselle and its network of canals. Ample dog walking routes in nearby forest. Reception sells cold beer, wine and ice cream.
On site lake for swimming and fishing.

Fully-serviced grass site (comfort)
Liked Good access to woodland walks with dog. Plenty of cafes / restaurants on walk routes for coffee or lunch. Beautiful rolling / hilly countryside with access to nearby villages and towns. We did not use our bikes, but comprehensive bike track network for road and mountain bike. However unless you are comfortable with some very steep climbs an e-bike would be essential.
Disliked This is an excellent site if you have younger children who would like a daily children's program in Dutch. There were a lot of children from dawn to dusk. Even in the swimming pool up to its closing time of 22:00. So no real opportunity to use the pool.
The pitches are compact and close together so the site felt crowded and noisy. The facilities were ok with clearly a high volume of use so waiting was required on occaision.
The reception at the site had no record of us having a dog with us even although clearly shown on the booking confirmation as having been requested and paid for. The dog pitches on the site were all occupied so they had to accept we would be on a pitch where dogs were not officially allowed.

Power optional grass site
Liked Good facilities with plenty hot water. On site restaurant served good, quality dishes. Nearby restaurant / cafe also served excellent coffee and cake as well as an outstanding dinner.
Disliked Pitch was shaded by mature trees so it did not get the heat of the sun until the afternoon. Due to the heavy morning dew this meant we were cool and damp all morning.

De Hoef powered grass site
Liked Warm welcome, receptionist spoke good English. We had pitch with private toilet and shower room. Clean and warm. Well worth the extra. Being off season the site was very quiet. Had the swimming pool to ourselves on the occasion we used it. Short woodland walk which we used for the dog as part of the site. We drove to Utrecht Science Park P&R and used the tram to get to the centre of Utrecht for a city day.
Disliked More observations than dislikes. The on site shop and restaurant were closed during our 3 night stay. The nearest shop is a 15 minute drive or you could cycle. The options for walking our dog from the site were limited due to livestock and fenced farmland. We understand there are woodland areas within 30 minute drive.
