A lush green golf course under a vast blue sky… what a setting at which to tee off. And the views from here are mighty fine too: time to cast your eyes over the colourful site pics… All this – and rather a lot more – is at Bisbee RV Park at Turquoise Valley in Arizona's Naco, near the Coronado National Forest, the Chiricahua mountains, the Kartchner Caverns State Park, the San Pedro river and stacks more spectacular sites. It's all nicely historic around these parts as well: Black Jack Pershing camped here, Pancho Villa marched on this ground and the fab old copper and gold mining town of Bisbee is a few miles away. Bisbee RV Park at Turquoise Valley has the oldest continuously operated golf course in Arizona (the first to reach 100) and has the third longest hole (15, the Rattler) in the United States, also the tenth longest in the world. A driving range, club rental and cart rental are all available to guests. A site restaurant is open daily from morning to early afternoon and for extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays. The full bar is open until 7pm. There's also cable and wifi, a laundry room and an amenities block with bathrooms and showers. Propane is available for sale.

Local attractions

Bisbee RV Park at Turquoise Valley is a few miles from the historic copper and gold mining town of Bisbee, where men came to mine in the nearby Mule Mountains in the late 18th century. These days it's an arty and eclectic town, once winner of America's Best Historic Small Town awards and described as one of the 'quirkiest' places to live in the country. About 20 miles north is Tombstone, known to most fans of Western films as the town that made Wyatt Earp famous. The Turquoise Valley team recommends Big Nose Kate's as one of the best places in town to eat, as it's preserved much as it was when Wyatt and his crew were around. Other popular places to visit in the area are the Chiricahua mountains, Coronado National Forest, Ramsey Canyon Preserve, the Kartchner Caverns State Park, the San Pedro river, Arizona Folklore Preserve and its regular weekend schedule of south-western cultural music, Whitewater Draw wildlife area and the town of Naco. For shopping, Sierra Vista is 45 minutes to the north-west on Highway 92. Active duty and retired military ID cardholders can also visit historic and still active Fort Huachuca just to Sierra Vista's west.
