Camping du Grand Saint-Bernard lies at the foot of the 1,600m high Grand Saint-Bernard mountain pass, set in a flat, grassy area among stunning Alpine views. The campsite is a heaven of peace and rest while also offering very good access to the local area. Located in Bourg-Saint-Pierre, the last village before Italy, we are easily-reached by public transport too, as there is a bus service from Martigny which stops just outside the campsite entrance. The campsite has a snack-bar at your disposal, open all season long, from which you can buy cold drinks, ice-creams, bread and snacks. For younger campers, there is a play area onsite where they can have fun and enjoy themselves. There is also a washing machine and a dryer at your disposal and we have a toilet and shower block available, with hot water showers and separate areas for men and women.

Local attractions

The village of Bourg-Saint-Pierre bursts with history and charm, from its ancient buildings to its newly-restored mill and the legacies left by former travellers. History and legend sit side by side within its walls, recalling the bygone eras of Hannibal, the troops of the Roman Empire, those of Napoleon and the passage of millions of pilgrims, travellers and traders. From Bourg-Saint-Pierre you can set off on many mountain walks and hikes, such as the trek along the famous Via Francigena that will lead you to the hospice, higher up on the Grand Saint-Bernard Pass. Here, over a thousand years ago, Saint Bernard of Menthon prepared the way for what was to become an imposing building of great importance, aided by the famous Saint Bernard dogs. The famous resort of Verbier and the town of Martigny are only a 25 minutes' drive away. Verbier offers many tourist attractions, restaurants, shops and plenty of opportunities for outdoor pursuits such as mountain walking, mountain biking, canyoning, glacier walking, golf, hydro-speeding, horse-back riding, paragliding and helicopter rides.
