Set between the sandy expanse of Vilshärads beach and the dunes and cork oak forest of Haverdals Nature Reserve in Halland, Vilshärads Camping is a leafy base for chilled alfresco time. Whether you choose to spend that time out on the water, cycling trails through the forest or lazing on the beach – well, that’s down to you. Head for reception to rent paddleboards for exploring the coastline, and bicycles (or tandems) for following the Kattegat Trail national cycle path, which runs by the site. If that all sounds like too much effort, plonk yourselves down on the sand, or keep the kids happily busy on site with games of mini golf, pétanque or outdoor chess instead. Chances are your offspring will also be happy when they realise there’s an ice cream café on site, and woodfired pizzas on the menu at the Italian-inspired Driftwood trattoria. Left anything important at home? Handily, a small store selling groceries, gifts, toys and camping accessories is also on hand. Bringing any canine companions with you? They’re welcome to swim on Skälvik’s north beach (20 minutes’ walk) and of course, you can give them (and yourselves) a decent run in Haverdals Nature Reserve straight from your pitch. Peaceful Vilshärads Camping certainly is, but it’s a mere 15 minutes’ drive from the riverside eateries, sandy beaches and golf courses of buzzy Halmstad if you should wish to push your holiday vibe up a gear.

Great welcome, cafe, and beach! Guests loved the cooking facilities, peace, and farm shop. Clean grounds, good pitches, and spotless loos. WiFi's a bit patchy, especially on pitches, but fine near reception. Some found it a bit too organised.

Liked From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome. The campsite also has a lovely café and has a lovely selection of ice creams
The location is excellent, with a beautiful sandy beach just a short walk away. The rolling sand dunes are perfect for exploring, and the shallow, sheltered waters provide a safe place for families with young children to enjoy swimming in the sea.

At the campsite, we particularly appreciated the communal cooking facilities, which offered a great alternative to cooking in our camper and created a welcoming space for guests.

During our time, the campsite remained peaceful and respectful throughout our stay. A real bonus was the nearby farm shop, where we found an excellent selection of fresh local produce—perfect for preparing delicious, wholesome meals.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend this campsite to anyone looking for a relaxing base with easy access to the beach, cycling routes, and local produce.

Liked Warm friendly welcome. Beautiful area in reach of a beach and stunning woodlands. Very clean bathrooms and showers. Good sized pitches and well kept grounds. Did not get chance to use onsite cafe as our stay was brief.

Disliked Shower cards that needed tapping every minute to ensure hot water.

Ziemlich zentral/ vieles zu Fuß oder mit dem Rad erreichbar

Local attractions

Stay properly local and have a nose around the farm shop and boutique in Villshärad (adjacent to the campsite), or have a go at blowing your own glass masterpiece at Steninge Glashytta (10 minutes’ walk). Introduce the family to the game of footgolf at Vilshärads Football Golf (15 minutes), and for a day out with younger kids, venture slightly further afield to the waterslides, dinosaur trails and bumper cars at Halmstad Adventure Land (10 minutes’ drive). Backed by dunes and the Haverdals Nature Reserve, Vilshärads Beach (10 minutes’ walk) is nearly two miles in length. Here you can catch some sun, let the kids scramble around on the landmark Lynga sand dune, play volleyball and gallop through the waves on horseback (riding school 10 minutes’ drive). At Skälvik beach (20 minutes’ walk), there’s a small natural harbour with boathouses and a boat slip where you can launch dinghies and paddleboards, as well as swim and go crab fishing by the jetty. On this coastline known for its golf, hone your handicap at Ringenäs Golfklubb, or play the courses at Halmstad and Haverdals (all five minutes’ drive).
