  • Family-friendly site in Moncofa town on the Costa del Azahar
  • A five-minute walk to Moncofa beach; 45 minutes’ drive to Valencia
  • Pools, aqua play park, themed dinners, padel tennis and football
Bring the whole clan along to Castellón for family-friendly times at Camping Monmar: this site on the Costa del Azahar in the Moorish town of Moncofa is less than a five-minute walk to the Mediterranean. Watery amenities to while the time away at are plentiful on site too, with a main pool and an aqua play area to keep all ages busy. There's padel tennis and football to get stuck into as well, and free entertainment for families and a kids' club for small visitors are put on in the summer months. On days when you don't plan on going far (or doing too very much at all...), plenty of places for lying under the Spanish sun are all around. Seeking respite from the rays? The restaurant has lots of umbrellas on its terrace for shade and serves Mediterranean meals; themed dinners are also organised every now and then. If you’re up for strolling for your supper, more choice can be had in Moncofa alongside its pretty castles and churches including the baroque and neoclassical Parroquia Santa María Magdalena (a 10-minute drive) and the Torre de Beniesma (15 minutes) down by the coast. For shoreline explores, a road runs all along the sea for about 30 kilometres all in all – use this relatively flat path to cycle towards beaches including Platja Belcaire, which also has a marina and watersports (10 minutes by bike), and Playa Grao (90 minutes cycle ride). Other places of note in Castellón are within driving distance, like the Serra d'Espadà Natural Park 30 minutes where you can wander amid the cork trees with views of rocky mountains, and the Aquarama waterpark 35 minutes away in Benicàssim.

What customers say

Great spot! Clean, well-kept, friendly staff, and good value. Spotless loos, decent pitches, bar, restaurant, pool. Close to beach & town. A few noisy permanent residents on weekends. One pool cloudy, restaurant service slow.

Fully-serviced gravel site

Local attractions

Visiting Valencia (45 minutes’ drive), one of Spain’s most smashing cities, is par for the course for a trip anywhere around this region. Head to this portside place for forays to the futuristic-looking City of Arts and Sciences (with a planetarium, oceanarium and interactive museum) or stick to the outdoors at the Albufera Park wetlands reserve’s lakeside trails. A taste of Spain can be had at The Central Market, a tile-covered structure built in the Modernista style with more than 1,000 stalls selling treats, then stop by the stone La Lonja de la Seda 15th-century Gothic mercantile exchange too for a hit of history. Valencia’s also a jumping-off point for the Columbretes Islands as boat tours run from here to this uninhabited volcanic archipelago in the middle of the Med.
