Keen to explore Madrid but not so keen on staying right in the city centre? Compromise by setting yourselves up at Camping Alpha, a leafy site 20 minutes’ drive from days of sightseeing at famed attractions including the Museo Nacional del Prado, Palacio Real and Plaza de España. But don’t plan to spend all your time in Madrid, for there’s plenty going on at the campsite – basketball, volleyball and tennis for starters, as well as swimming pools (one for toddlers) open in the summer months, and a play area to tire out the kids. The tapas bar and restaurant come with a terrace for leisurely dining on balmy evenings, and if you fancy doing some alfresco cooking yourself, you can get grilling on the communal barbecues (stock up on food at the campsite store). The pitches at Camping Alpha are tucked under trees for shade on hot summer days, there’s 24-hour service at reception, a launderette and modern showers. The site is handy for catching the train into Madrid from Getafe Central railway station (10 minutes’ drive) or taking the bus – there’s a stop a few paces from the campsite entrance – while Nassica and Westfield Parquesur shopping malls are both about 10 minutes away by car.

Disliked Disgusting camp site filthy pitches toilets and litter every where. Discarded stoma bags in the toilets filth in every cubicle shows were filthy third world standards in a European capital city campsite

Liked Nice place as a camping, sadly I don't know if called camping as the place seems to be used for different activities such as rent it out the tables on the barbecue area birthday party's acces to the swimming pool to other people outside of the camping, at night was very noisy people playing music since 2am security has not done nothing in regards to this, bathroom and toilets awful very dirty

Disliked Very noisy due to some guests and also the high road close by.
Sanitary facilities look worst from the outside, but inside are good enough for staying 1 night.

Liked That we got to leave our Campervan there while we traveled to Madrid for the day. We used a uber taxi which was great. there wasn’t much choice near by if you wanted to go to Madrid for the day so this campsite is great but i would change a few things for hygiene etc. good over all what we wanted as a quick stop off. We didn’t end up using the pool as it didn’t feel inviting. Very polite workers, office staff, men client the bin area. Maybe use clothes to no that you are workers there.

Disliked Old, needed updated. Very Near to the motor way and noisey at night. People having fun, making noice. Litter everywhere. Should do a litter picking evening with the people that are there long term. Bins stinking near the bbq area which is also near the ladies toilets.
Mirrors in the toilets need a good clean/polish plus the showers need a good clean.

Liked Es un camping viejito pero acogedor y cómodo, de echo volvimos y está era segunda vez en 15 días que estuvimos. Paremos de ida y de venida de nuestro destino.

Disliked Que le hace falta una manita de reforma aunque no es impedimento para pasar unos días.

Head into Madrid (20 minutes’ drive) to view spectacular Old Masters at the Museo Nacional del Prado and contemporary works at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. Alternatively, picnic under the trees in Buen Retiro Park, browse the artisan stalls at El Rastro flea market and hang out in tapas bars around Plaza de España. Closer to base camp, make a beeline for Cerro de los Ángeles (half an hour’s walk), a hilltop complex regarded as the geographical centre of Spain, where you can admire the monastery and monumental statue of Jesus. If the kids are getting impatient with all this culture, the antidote is surely Parque Warner Madrid (20 minutes’ drive) with adrenaline-busting rollercoasters and gentle rides for those of a more nervous disposition.
