What a glorious, peaceful location for an adults-only holiday in Catalonia – Glamping Vall de Codó is an intimate luxury site on a hilltop with splendid views of forested peaks, a five-minute drive (or half-hour walk) from the village of Terrades, in the north-eastern province of Girona.
Accommodation is in modern safari tents with real beds, plenty of storage for your belongings and stylish light fittings, plus your own private terrace from where you can admire the night sky: the site’s remote location means low levels of light pollution and excellent stargazing.
There’s a garden for leisurely strolls, or you can relax with a dip in the pool or the hot tub, maybe with a glass of locally produced wine in hand. Still feeling tense? Therapeutic massages and spa treatments are available for guests who are struggling to wind down (and for those who just fancy a little self-indulgence).
Meanwhile, active types can hire a bike and explore the surrounding hills; go kayaking in the Pantá de Boadella reservoir (20 minutes’ drive), whose shores are dotted with sandy and rocky beaches (and lined with wooded hiking trails); or swim in the Gorges of the Muga River (20 minutes), surrounded by lush vegetation.
The area around Girona is renowned for its gastronomic heritage, so gourmet meals prepared with sun-ripened vegetables and other delicious local ingredients await at restaurants in nearby towns like Figueres (20 minutes).

Local attractions
Figueres is the birthplace of Salvador Dalí, and there are links to the Surrealist artist everywhere, from monuments and streetside tributes to his childhood home and the Dalí Theatre-Museum, which displays hundreds of his works. On the outskirts of the town is the 18th-century Castell de Sant Ferran fortress.
For an epic hike, check out the Parc Natural de la Zona Volcànica de la Garrotxa (45 minutes’ drive), with its landscape of volcanic cones, lava flows and dense woodland. If you fancy exploring this area on horseback, the folk at Lava Parc organise 45-minute and two-hour excursions, and they also arrange carriage rides.
The Mediterranean beaches of the Gulf of Roses (45 minutes) include the sandy Playa Sant Pere Pescador and Platja de Les Llaunes. Just inland from here, the Parc Natural dels Aiguamolls de l'Empordà is an area of wetlands where you might be able to spot flamingos, storks and ospreys.

Liked La cabaña excepcional, el restaurante muy bueno, el trato de los dueños fantástico y el entorno de tranquilidad y paz.
Disliked El camarero y el cocinero hablaban tan fuerte entre ellos sobre los comensales que se oía todo desde nuestra mesa y no me pareció adecuado.
