- Relaxing family-owned site in the Golfo de Rosas
- Modern facilities including a large swimming pool
- Multisports area and bar/restaurant
Lots and lots to do all around and plenty of opps to relax on a Spanish campsite sounds pretty rosy to us... If this too is you, get along to chilled out and family-owned Camping Mas Nou: it's on the Gulf of Roses on Catalonia's coast, in the centre of Empordà and in an area filled with activities and attractions like nature parks, caves and coves, museums – and a fair chunk of Catalonian history too.
Mas Nou has modern facilities including a big three-level pool that suits adults as well as tiddlers and that's safely supervised by lifeguards in the summer months. There's also a basketball court, mini golf, a football pitch, a pétanque court, and a bar-restaurant serving meals, takeaways and fast food. An internet point is available for an extra charge.
The toilet blocks have individual showers, free hot water and a laundry room. Disabled facilities are also on site.

Local attractions
We did say there was lots and lots to do in the area around Camping Mas Nou… within a short distance you could tackle horse riding, cycling, mountain biking and – for the headily brave – parachute jumping. Watersports such as swimming, windsurfing and scuba diving are also available nearby.
Two nature parks are easy to get to from the campsite: Catalonia's second biggest wetland the Aiguamolls de l'Empordà on the Bay of Roses, and the Cap de Creus Natural Park on Catalonia's northeastern tip, 25 kilometres from the French border. The protected area of the Medes Islands is also around in this region, just off the coast from the town of L'Estartit.
To see how the other half live, cruise along to nearby Empuriabrava, the Costa Brava town with nearly 24 kilometres of canals, the biggest residential marina in the world, and a place to likely induce seething envy. You could also meander to the small villages of the area such as Cadaqués or the bigger cities like Girona and Sant Pere de Rodes, or potter along to see the excavations of the Greek/Roman city of Empúries, dating back to around 575BC.
