Local attractions
Start with a stroll around medieval Alquézar (five minutes’ drive), stopping in at the castle and Santa María la Mayor church before learning about the area’s history and winemaking activity at Casa Fabián Ethnological Museum. The things you learn there may prove useful when you’re touring the wineries around Barbastro (15 minutes' drive).
Alquézar is also a hub for outdoor adventures like horse riding, canyoning and mountain biking, and there's climbing nearby at the Vía ferrata Peñas Juntas (15 minutes). For walks, wander along the Pasarelas del Vero walkways from the town, head out into the Río Vero Canyon (10 minutes) or take a circular walk to the Castillo de Ador ruins (20 minutes).
You may well spot some wildlife while you’re out exploring, but if you’d like to be sure of seeing some animals, make an appointment to visit the Núcleo Zoológico Iris y Jardinería Iris (25 minutes), which is home to all sorts of exotic creatures.
