- Family-run site on the edge of El Chorro Natural Park
- Half an hour's drive from Álora and 45 minutes from Antequera
- Seasonal outdoor pool, covered terrace area, shared kitchen and meals
In an enviable position on the edge of El Chorro Natural Park, Olive Branch El Chorro has some cracking mountain panoramas that you'll most likely want to stare at for hours at a time. And indeed you can… this scenic site has well-kept pitches where you can settle down among olive trees, as well as a host of handy communal areas like the seasonal outdoor pool, shared kitchen and covered terrace area.
The capable site chefs cook and serve up breakfast and dinner daily, while self-catering folk sojourning here can make use of the shared kitchen or head to the barbecue area by the pool. Hot showers and a comfy relaxation area are likely to go down well, particularly if you've spent the day scaling some of El Chorro's climbing spots and need a bit of down-time. There are also lots of inviting chillout zones around the garden, where the fruit trees and wild-looking plants seem to cascade down the hillside…
Olive Branch El Chorro is conveniently located just off the main road five minutes' drive outside of El Chorro, where there are a couple of bars, impressive views over the reservoir and a railway station. From El Chorro, it's a half-hour drive (or 10-minute train ride) to Álora, a handsome historic town with a castle and supermarket.

Local attractions
This part of southern Spain is home to hundreds of scalable cliffs and crags and is a firm favourite with climbing fans, many of whom head here in the cooler months. Most of the staff at Olive Branch El Chorro are climbers themselves, so feel free to get chatting and ask them about the top routes in the area.
It's also an easy drive from here to the Caminito del Rey trail (20 minutes' drive), a spectacular eight-kilometre boardwalk that cuts right through some of the area's most impressive crags and valleys. Protective headgear is provided on arrival in case of falling rocks, and while it’s not quite as vertigo-inducing as clambering over sheer rock faces, you'll still need a head for heights to get the most out of the views on offer here.
Getting out of the mountains and down into Álora (half an hour) is another option, where there's an old Arab castle. Hardcore history buffs, meanwhile, should head to Antequera (45 minutes), where the Alcazaba (a well-preserved Moorish fort) and megalithic tombs make for ace ancient explores.
