  • Peaceful touring pitches on an Upper Carniola farm near the E61 road
  • Within 20 minutes’ drive of Lake Bled; 15 minutes’ drive from Kranj
  • Small site surrounded by forests, hills and hiking/cycling trails
This is a fabulously handy spot for a stay in the Upper Carniola region, whether you’re planning an overnight stop or a longer sojourn taking in all the local sights. Camperstop pr’Stroj is only a little way from the E61, the main road linking Ljubljana and Bled, so it’s a particularly convenient location for those planning to visit either one (or both) of those. How you fill your days around here is up to you: you could hit the road for a day out in Ljubljana (half an hour's drive) or head north for all the outdoor activities (walking, fishing, watersports and fishing among them) at Lake Bled, Slovenia’s famously scenic glacial lake. Alternatively, as the site is surrounded by hills and forests you may instead like to get out for a walk or bike ride on one of the trails running through the immediate surroundings. The small-scale site – tiny, some might say – is a peaceful, dog-friendly place on a peaceful farm without commercial resort amenities. The simple amenities cover practical matters, simply extending to communal wooden shower cubicles and toilets. The site is also an excellent spot for anglers, as it has good access to local fishing waters. There are a couple of restaurants within 15 minutes’ walk of the site. However, a larger selection of amenities is in Naklo, five minutes’ drive away, or Kranj, 15 minutes’ drive away. Kranj is the fourth-largest city in Slovenia, so you may want to think about looking around the old town and river canyon while you’re there.

Local attractions

Lake Bled (20 minutes' drive) is one of Slovenia’s great attractions – and with good reason. It's a spectacularly scenic place, with an 11th-century castle set high up on the cliffside and an attractive church on an island in the centre of the lake (accessible by boat trip or kayak). While you're there, you can take a hike all the way around the lake on a waterside trail, climb to the Mala Osojnica viewpoint or walk through nearby Soteska Vintgar, where boardwalks cut through scenic gorges. Ljubljana (half an hour) is of course another of the country’s favourite locations, so if you've not explored there yet then it's worth making the trip to see the castle, the Church of the Annunciation (the famed pink church) and the many bridges, or to visit attractions like the zoo and Museum of Illusions. Closer to home, you could head to Kranj (15 minutes) for its underground tunnels and 30-metre-deep river canyon, or follow trails along the nearby Sava river, perhaps to Slap Šum waterfall (an hour and a half on foot).
