  • Peaceful park with direct and private access to the Danube's banks
  • A 15-minute drive from Negotin; access to EuroVelo routes 6 and 13
  • Firepits, wifi and boat berths
For dreamy days on the Danube, Camping St. Mokranjac is set in the lovely region of Borski right on the banks of the mighty river with views of the water to the front and an acacia wood at the back. Firepits are handily set up to keep guests warm in the evenings… so you can sit by the flames as you plan whether to rest or roam the next day. Other facilities on site include showers, toilets and a chemical toilet disposal, as well as permission to use berths at a wharf if you’re boating about eastern Europe. Watersports like windsurfing, rowing and canoeing can also be had from here, while canyoning in streams flowing through the Miroc mountain down to the Danube, cycling on asphalt roads straight from the site, and hiking just about anywhere are also popular pastimes in this pretty part of the world. Filled with pitches shaded by trees ranging from oak and ash to cherry and peach, the park’s just as scenic as its surroundings; nightingale birds, otters and crabs call this sublime spot their home too. The setting’s also convenient, with a supermarket a 15-minute drive over in Negotin as well as churches and museums to meander about. Planning to visit other local historical sights? The late 13th- or early 14th-century Serbian Orthodox Monastery Bukovo is 20 minutes away by car.

Local attractions

A small waterfall leading to a pool for swims, Mokranjske Stene, is around a 30-minute drive from Camping St. Mokranjac, while Vratna canyon is 40. You can travel around the same distance to Rogljevačke Pivnice for winery explores or head further (50 minutes) to see the stone houses of the traditional Serbian village of Rajačke Pivnice. All these sights can be seen on a cycling trip too, or you could set off on the EuroVelo routes 6 and 13 straight from the park towards your next stop on a tour of eastern Europe. The latter road is partially finished and will retrace the former Iron Curtain border going from the Barents Sea to the Black Sea and passing through 20 nations when finished. If heading north into Romania by car appeals instead, Domogled Valea Cernei National Park is an hour and 50 minutes away for a protected area of limestone cliffs, canyons, beech forests and alpine lakes. Thermal caves and mineral springs can also be checked out here before returning to Camping St. Mokranjac for even more soaks in the Danube…
