The bags are packed, the sandals are slipped on and you’re off to the Algarve coast. Before you set off for any silky beaches or seaside terraces, set up your base at Oasis Camp in Lagoa, which is rather dreamy indeed… The site has a natural swimming pond made of clear spring water and right on site, there’s a surf camp providing equipment rental and multi-day lessons. If surfing isn’t quite your thing, there are also fitness activities and yoga classes to get stuck into. Having Lagoa as your location is excellent too. With rows of whitewashed house, many from the 18th century, there’s plenty to do, whether it’s surfing, dining on typical Portuguese cuisine, visiting Castelo de São João do Arade or driving under 20 minutes to sandy beaches like Praia dos Caneiros and Marinha beach. Oasis Camp has 50,000 square metres of greenery, and as if that isn’t enough to help you relax already, there’s also the natural swimming pond, a pool table and a table tennis table. The site runs communal barbecue evenings, as well as excursions across the Algarve. There’s a chilled-out atmosphere, that’s for certain.

Lovely, peaceful spot with a cool pool/bar. Staff are friendly, site's clean & great for stargazing. A few noted organisation kinks, basic facilities, dodgy hot water/power, and tight pitches for bigger vans.

Liked Gostámos da piscina que parece um lago e dos animais burros, pôneis, cabras , galinhas , um pavão, a noite ouve-se sapos. É maravilhoso. A Jéssica uma jovem adorável fez o nosso check-in,excelente profissional.

Disliked Online o pequeno almoço é vendido a 10€ arrependo me de não ter reservado pois era um preço aceitavel. Chegando lá o pequeno almoço é 15 euros. Um absurdo. Eu trabalhei em hotéis 4* em Paris em que o buffet continental era 18€ por pessoa e a qualidade era muito superior. Aqui era madalenas embaladas, alguns embutidos, pães de leite e croissants. Nada de por aí além. O preço não se justificando preferimos não comer. Fomos ao Auchan a 5 min dali.
Adicionalmente, montámos a tenda na relva perto da ficha eléctrica descobrindo a noite o barulho que faz o gerador. Devíamos ter-nos afastado mais.

Liked Posto tranquillo, ognuno con la sua piazzola con disponibilità di allaccio elettrico, bagni e doccia puliti.

Disliked Sul sito c’è scritto che la reception chiude alle 22:00 in realtà siamo arrivati 2 volte alle 21 e alle 20:45 e non abbiamo trovato nessuno, è stato difficile rintracciare anche il numero che hanno messo a disposizione, inoltre non c’è acqua potabile per il camper

Liked The young lady on reception was very pleasant.

Disliked We stayed for 15 minutes to look around. Wasn’t impressed at all. Felt and looked like a Construction Site rather than a Camp Site. Toilet/Shower block very unclean. Got back in our motorhome and looked for somewhere else. We travelled 4.5 hours to get here too. Very disappointed ☹️

Liked We had a great stay! The tent pitches were well laid out, with the option to choose between a private gravel pitch or a more communal grass area — a nice touch depending on what kind of camping experience you're after. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the ablution facilities, while basic, were always clean. The real standout was the amazing pool and bar — perfect for cooling off and relaxing. Highly recommended!

Liked Fuimos para ver diferentes puntos de portugal y el camping estaba en un sitio intermedio.La tranquilidad que hay, el lago estaba súper bien , los niños disfrutaron mucho abajo q había animales y en el billar q era gratuito

Disliked Pitches backed onto quarry. Toilets were very basic and the washing areas. No drinking water from tap. Point of sale and card machines unfortunately were not working and having to pay by cash was inconvenient

Local attractions

If surfing isn’t quite your cup of tea, it’s still possible to get the kids into the water without so much stepping foot on the beach. Slide & Splash (10 minutes’ drive) is a popular water park in Lagoa with slides rather than surfboards. Many of the Algarve’s most popular spots are, of course, within driving distance too. Will you start with Lagos (half an hour), where there’s a steep descent to Praia do Camilo, dramatic cliffs with a lighthouse, a castle and all the stunning terraces within the walled old town? Or instead, begin with Albufeira (25 minutes), which is just a tad quicker to get to? At this spot, join a diving trip (or a dolphin-watching trip if you don’t fancy going down under). Faro (45 minutes) is another stunning location, with plenty of stunning coastal scenery for cyclists to breathe in, as well as a cobbled old town, 13th-century cathedral and a museum in a convent.
