Pitch up in Portugal among trees, but be close to the sand, surf and sea of local beaches? Any sensible sort should want some of that, at any time. Parque Orbitur Vagueira is in a pretty prime Portuguese location, just two kilometres from the sandy beaches of Vagueira and Areão, a short walk to Ría de Costa Nova, a kilometre from Vagueira and within a 15-minute drive of Vagos, Aveiro and Ílhavo. It's set in a wood and has a big sports ground on which to tackle tennis, football or basketball, free wifi in public areas, outdoor bowling, table tennis and a restaurant.

Liked: Viajamos con nuestro perrito y estuvimos genial. Las parcelas son amplias y están niveladas. Cenamos unas hamburguesas muy ricas en el bar.

Disliked: La toma de electricidad estaba muy lejos y no disponían de alargadores para prestarnos. Había varios baños inhabilitados por lo que teníamos que darnos un paseo para llegar al wc o la ducha. El wifi no llegaba a nuestra parcela.

Liked: Lovely setting in amongst pine trees. All the facilities were good and clean. Useful little shop and bread can be ordered for the morning. It was a bit too chilly to use the swimming pool but it looked very nice. The nearest beach is within walking distance, the walk itself is rather uninspiring but the beach itself was well worth it. Easy driving distance to Aveiro which is a beautiful town. Site was very quiet and peaceful in spite of being quite big.

Disliked: Some traffic noise. Ground very hard for tent pegs but that’s obviously not something they can change, just make sure you have a mallet!

Liked: I like pretty much everything. This is my first time touring in a campervan in Portugal. I stopped here because it was a convenient point on my way back to Porto. However it was a lot nicer than I imagine was parked in beautiful forest great facilities very peaceful if I’m in the area I definitely would come here again can’t recommend it early enough, also to mention the ladies of reception are very polite very helpful

Disliked: Not really a dislike but it was a shame that there was no supermarket or restaurant or bar open the time of year I went in May. There seems to be a lot of people on the site so I’m sure it would be good if they opened it there was however a small shop by reception but Limited supplies so if you go there make sure you’re stocked up or you will have to eat out in the local town which is very nice.

As you'll see, Parque Orbitur Vagueira is in a pretty prime Portuguese location: have town or city days out in between days surfing or bodyboarding of Vagueira and Areão beaches, or just wander around the local countryside making it your mission to munch from as many Portuguese menus as poss. If you're an angler, go and learn more about your craft via the Xávega fishing technique of Islamic origins where a large net is thrown into the sea from small fishing boats and then dragged to shore by people or tractors; head to Sesimbra, the Meco area and the beach of Vagueira to see more. Also recommended in the region is the 17th-century Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Penha, patron saint of the nearby town of Grândola in the Setúbal District.

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.

A valid vaccination certificate must accompany your dog.
