Heading to South Holland for its canals and countryside cycling trails? Perhaps for old windmills, theme parks or Van Gogh collections? Camping Ter Leede is a good place to put on the brakes and relax surrounded by Vijfheerenlanden landscapes and the rivers Lek, Merwede and Linge. At the same time, you’ll still be 35 minutes’ drive away from Kinderdijk and Utrecht and 50 minutes from Amsterdam for livelier scenes when you want them. This small-scale, quiet and dog-friendly site has a pretty informal feel, thanks to its modern facilities and friendly staff. You’ll have the run of spacious pitches with bounds of privacy (there’s plenty of greenery for natural dividers) and access to a well-kept amenities block including showers, toilets and a launderette. Cycling and walking are a knockout here too… you might want to whizz about the South Holland landscapes one day and head over to the Betuwe’s blossom trees the next (they're about half an hour’s drive away). Closer by, meadows and villages will be some of the sights on your way around the local trails. As for your shopping list, you’ll be able to tick off the essential items in Leerdam’s shops, five minutes’ drive away. Restaurants are in no short supply there either, so you can either eat out or indulge in a barbecue back on site.

Great campsite! Friendly owners, sparkling facilities (showers with radio!), and a peaceful pond setting. Guests loved the safe, car-free vibe, good Wi-Fi, and views. Liked Very pretty quiet site and location, wifi, clean facilities. Mostly caravans but room for a few tents next to Koi Carp pond. Parking near tent (carts provided but we didn't need to use)

Liked The campsite was in a beautiful location and full of amazing people, the owners / staff were extremely helpful and answered any questions i had . The toilets and showers were immaculate and even had the radio on in there so you could listen to it when in the shower or on the loo . Everyone that was there was friendly and the pond was beautiful and full of massive fish. This campsite is a must stay

Liked Everything! Not a dislike, the kids playground was probably for slightly older kids than mine apart from the seesaw and little spring horse - my 6 and 3 yr old had to be supervised and helped on all equipment. Go carts were a massive hit though!

Liked The campsite is amazing. The facilities are great. Showers an wc very clean and there is a kitchenette for people to use as well as a lounge area to socialize
I'm travelling by bicycle and that was a perfect place for me
Also, the lady makes awesome coffee. I recommend.

Liked Friendly family owners. The entire site was impeccably clean, the sanitary building is in "as new" condition and way above average standard. For those who need it, there are free toilet paper and soap dispensers. Hot water readily available. Hot shower with plenty of power is 50 cent for 4 minutes, change is easily available at reception.
WiFi is 1 euro per day and there are antennas located all over the site, phone reception is also perfect, plenty enough for streaming if required.
The landscaping and pitches are well cared for and spotlessly clean, after pitching my tent I sat at the picnic table for my lunch while watching the carp in le pond and wildlife around it, very peaceful.
My stay was in a tent and my pitch was lush soft grass, no mud. There are no vehicles allowed in the caravan and tent area, parking was immediately next to the camping area so no long walks and there are plenty of carts around to transport your goods to your pitch. Caravans are delivered to pitch by the owner and his little tractor.
Campervans stay on a separate field which faces west and you can watch the sunset over the village.
My stay was extremely peaceful and relaxing, all campers were respectful and polite which I feel is a reflection of the atmosphere this campsite delivers.
There's a small, safe play area for the children to play on swings and other rides, a few pedal cars for them and a pen with chickens and rabbits.
There is a small village 10 minutes walk away along a quiet, dyke lined country lane.

Disliked Nothing at all,.After 2 weeks travel staying on a different campsite every night, I have to say this was by far the cleanest in every area, and also the most modern/up to date site I visited, it is clear that there has been a huge investment made to get to this standard.

Some people may not like not being able to park their vehicle next to their pitch, I was on a motorcycle and was happy to park on the block paved parking area and take the 20 second walk to my pitch.

Local attractions

When it comes to history, this area doesn’t disappoint. Its museums certainly have a diverse selection of things for you to nosy about, from the crystal and glassmaking museums at Leerdam (five minutes’ drive and home to an aquarium too) to the second-largest Van Gogh collection in the world at the Kröller-Müller Museum (an hour and five minutes). You may already know Utrecht for its canals and cycling paths, but it also has a medieval centre (35 minutes), fierce competition for the medieval Loevestein Castle (40 minutes). Meanwhile, Kinderdijk’s (35 minutes) old windmills and museums have earned the UNESCO World Heritage Site stamp, while Gorinchem (15 minutes) has a better look at local history inside its museum (with pleasant harbourside walks and alfresco cafés for dessert if you wish). Boat trips take your fancy? There are beaver and birdwatching boat tours in Nationaal Park De Biesbosch (45 minutes) or the canals in Amsterdam (50 minutes), which is also known for its bridges, cycling and Van Gogh Museum. Now, for two more types of parks, both with their own spark… perhaps you’ll want to visit the theme park at Efteling (35 minutes) or delve into Hoge Veluwe National Park (55 minutes) to see red deer and mouflons.
