You'll be able to see the spectacular sight of medieval De Haar Castle from Boerencamping Hazenveld (all the better for imaginative musings of quests, adventure and knighthoods). More kid-friendly options are at Utrecht, where there's a museum dedicated to Miffy author Dick Bruna and a railway museum for mini trainspotters. Also make time for – an absolute must, says the Boerencamping Hazenveld team – Museum Speelklok, with centuries' worth of automatic musical instruments such as clocks, organs and music boxes. There's plenty more cycling to be had around Utrecht too: take your wheels to the hills and forests of the Utrecht Hill Ridge, or pedal south to reach the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park.
