- Excellently-maintained family site on the edge of Brielse Meer
- Private beach, waterslides and on-site waterski centre
- Petting zoo, playgrounds, fishing, go-karting and snack bar
The South Netherlands site of Camping De Krabbeplaat prides itself on quite a few things – and jolly right too as you'll see when you arrive. First up, the manager lives on site to sort maximum assistance for guests... you might, for example, query for tips on what first to see and do around these fab countryside settings.
And what might those be? Quite a lot: De Krabbeplaat's also rightly chuffed with its excellent setting, in wooded surroundings on the edge of Brielse Meer or Lake Den Briel, with easy access to the water as well as its own private beach. It's between the Dutch estuary islands of Voorne and Rozenburg, half an hour from both Rotterdam and Delft for city and sightseeing days.
De Krabbeplaat's team is also chuffed at being a site firmly set up for families with kids, with an extensive entertainment and activities programme as well as play areas in and out of the water (and extra attention paid to the safety of smalls). There's a petting zoo on site too, as well as playgrounds, ping pong tables and go-kart rental.
Older kids can join grownups for waterskiing, rowing, sailing and canoeing from the site's own waterski school, slip down the lake's slides, or have a peaceful time fishing from the several angling spots. Boat mooring is also to hand if you've arrived on site with your own craft.
Covering the essentials, De Krabbeplaat has spacious and serviced pitches, close to well-maintained amenities blocks with showers and toilets. A snack bar and supermarket take care of the eats: do ask about having breakfast especially prepped for you...
Finally, the site is run on eco-friendly grounds and designed to fit in as much as possible with its natural surroundings: quite rightly, De Krabbeplaat's team is pretty proud of that too.
